Fallkniven A1 Pro review

nice to hear that !

Hell yea I'm ecstatic

That log fought hard though, put a mean scratch on the side my baby.

But the edge held up, no damage, razor sharp.

This knife is no collector piece for me.

I don't care about beauty marks even on a $300 knife.

I'm not shy about using my gear.

I want performance, power, high sharpness, brute force and durability.

Love this blade

Fallkniven broke my heart when my Pro had a loose guard.

Sounds silly for a grown man to have such sadness over an inanimate object but, I'm very passionate about high performance cultery.

Fallkniven has been given redemption

that was the same test that was performed and my new Pro performed flawlessly without the guard coming loose.

Hell I even thought the test was dumb since I didn't think it would split the wood.

But it fricken split that knot like a beast.

Just in time for summer :)

I'll post a video of the action later.

Alright, back in progress with the review.

I want to give a huge thanks and special shout out to Mikael.

Your the man!

Thank you for disassembling your handle for us to see bro.

Much appreciated

Heres.a list of what's coming.

Video comparisons
Steel analysis
Wilderness camping trip
Conclusion

Thanks

Shawn

I'm having a veeeery hard time justifying the pro as I am so pleased with the A1, but I can see why you feel so exited about this new addition, I would serious consider the pro if I was A1less.

Thanks Shawn, but it was Your thorough work with this review, that made me do it now.
I would have made the disassembling anyway, but later on.
It was a decision made already before I bought the F1 Pro.

About a side-by-side compare with Bark River and Fällkniven, I'm looking forward to that.
I have made my own tests and both brands cope with extremely heavy duty tasks like batoning through knots, splitting and chopping.
The differences shows in the choice of steel, tang construction and geometry.

When the geometrys are close, meaning lots of steel behind the edge, they both hold up just fine.

Knives worth mentioning, are the BR made Scagel Large Bowie and the FK NL2 Odin.
I have used both without mercy and they came out of it with flying colors.

Regards
Mikael

I sent an email to Fallkniven and received this response:
Dear Robert,

We have had teething problems with the Pro Series knives, problems we couldn’t foresee when we started the production.

1. The handles were a little lose upon the tang, around 0,3 mm or around 0.118”. This is adjusted at the mold which makes the handle.

2. The stainless steel crossguard could be moved up and down around 0,2 mm or around 0.079” though we used a well known solution. The crossguard is now welded to the tang and have absolutely no chance to move.

We have made a break test of the knives at the Technical University of Lulea and, as soon as we get enough time, we will display the results on our website. Still, what I can remember, these models are our strongest survival knives.

Best regards

Robert,

YOU rock!

Thanks for sharing!

Good attitude with Peter - Make it better ! The' Hjort' in his name means red deer . I wonder if he's tested by chopping through bones in those deer . How does the Pro series handle when taking apart the whole deer? I've only taken apart a smaller cull hjort ,about 300 lbs. That with my mod TK1 and a larger butcher knife and saw.

Big mistake clicking on this thread... There's an A1 Pro on it's way from North Carolina and my wallet weighs a feather now. :chuncky:

The transparency Falk is showing about this is refreshing. In the past I have been very critical of their warranty. The way they are handling things is impressive. If I wasn't set for knives I would be seriously be considering a pro.

Red house good for you............DBH is quite the enabler

That's for certain... he's a PROfessional enabler. :p
My A1 regular is my favorite big knife but I think it's going to be taking the back seat from now on.

Man I'd love to get tags this year and test for myself!

I wish I had that level of self control :P

With the new warranty it might be time brother..
