Fiddlebacks and Food

What variety are those? The local farmer's market has some Purple Cherokee, great tomatoes, but they are awfully expensive.

Big Brandy, Celebrity, and a Beefsteak. I have some Purple Cherokees about ready to be picked actually. They aren't cheap at the market, but damn they are good! My favorite from my garden this year is the Big Brandy! Here's another pic of one with a Lemon Boy. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1435980700.476209.jpg

In celebration of Cinco de Julio, it was Taco night! Seriously though, I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!
My daughter has been shutter crazy with her new camera, so she offered up her photo services tonight during prep time. And previously she thought I was strange for taking pics of cutting up erroneous foods with funky looking knives.
The lighting is not the best for photography in our kitchen. The LED bulbs tend to wash out the color.

If you hadn't already noticed, I've been on a Ladyfinger kick lately. Let me know if I'm boring you with the food shots.

Kal-El the pics are not boring, to me anyway. The patina on that Ladyfinger looks great.

Grilled poke chops tonight

MAXIMUS guarding the kamado joe.... Not really but I'd like to think so
He was actually watching my wife inside and wondering why she didn't come outside too

I don't blame you Phillip. I really enjoy peas and rice. I can't tell you how many times my mother made peas for dinner when I was a kid. At least 3 times a week. You'd think I'd have grown tired of them by now, but that's not the case. It does seem however, that the majority of people I ask, can't stand them.

It's funny
A few weeks ago my wife was making some yellow rice and I told her to throw some
of the frozen peas we have in the freezer into them... Now she won't stop
Lol

Well after having been a Pennsylvanian for about 20 years (having moved to PA from WA in High School), I've moved to New Jersey with some hesitation ;) Turns out I like New Jersey (well at least the town I live in), 10-15 miles away from Farmers' Markets with grass fed proteins and heirloom this and that - my kinda place :) All jabs aside, starting to appreciate big time why it's called the garden state (of course I won't say this outright to the Mrs. who's a native). The Mrs. is away at the book club tonight, so I'll just eat all this by my lonesome.....
