Great looking but $500 for a Kershaw, for that I can buy a Chris Reeves, Hinderer or may other already proven knives. There is not that much workmanship in it. Nice anodized standoffs but that cost nothing, nice belt clip but only tip up carry? I don't see anything that makes it worth any where near $500.

Only tip up carry isn't a reflection of poor workmanship, it's how it was designed. I'll refer to your first example of what you could buy with 500 dollars. This is also a special anniversary knife with a limited production in premium materials included a blade steel that is generally considered better than the S35VN in Reeves knives, so the price may be inflated based on the materials and circumstances of the limited production run. I personally wouldn't be too surprised if someone wanted this knife more than a Hinderer or CRK, so I think the price is easily justifiable.

Ah, so you can get CRK/Hinderers with bearings, 3d machined titanium pocket clips and solid ZDP-189 blades? Please enlighten me as to how a CRK or Hinderer is a more 'proven' knife than a Kershaw?

I find your common sense approach quite offensive; my resolve to not buy one grows weaker by the moment. ;-)

Not crazy about the look. Looks cheap like a gas station knife. Also I heard they are running the zdp 189 at 60to 62 hrc, why? Leave it to Kershaw to screw up the steel on their anniversary knife. Zdps main feature is it can be ran and does great when ran to 65+ hrc, at 62 and especially 60 it will perform rather poor.

The handle text logo and "40 years" detract from the design - if they could be implemented more discreetly, it would be a winner.

Heard from who? Don't post unsubstantiated rumors.

Will this be the third LE release from Kai? BTW, Thank you Kai for the first direct LE sale for me. So far a flawless process. Now the wait:D

Beautiful lines and grinds. I must be getting spoiled when I want more performance than ZDP , as though one of the first and all time best true "super steels" isn't enough performance.:o

This one could be my first Kershaw....if it were priced reasonably. I like the pics.

I hope they release a version with the same materials but without the billboard. I know it's an anniversary knife, but I love it... except for the billboard.

I'm with you. I love the design and even the DLC/polished flats, but the all the engraved bologna needs to go.

I look at the Kershaw 4040 Ruby as a showpiece trophy for Kershaw's 40th anniversary and as such i'll put up with the excess billboarding on the non-lock side.

Damn that's sexy. The "gas station" comment made me LOL.

Some people are so clueless....
