First Look - Kershaw Echelon

I love the blade shape.

I don't like the "frozen mucus" scales. They remind me of the last time I had a cold. I also don't like the large slot the thumb stud is mounted in. Thumb hole or a thumb stud, not both. It's also a shame it's a liner lock.

The swedge is interesting. I don't know how I feel about it yet.

The more i look at it, the more i am digging this knife. I HATE YOU, KERSHAW!!! YOU HAVE RUINED MY BUDGET! :D

Where can I find the specs on 14C28N?
(Edit)Found it on the Kershaw site, So it's like a 420M with a few more elements added. Right?
Whats the RC going to be about57/58?

I like the muscle car styling a lot. Despite the modern curves, it incorporates angular elements. Don't get me wrong, I like Ken Onion's organic and fluid design as much as the next guy, but it's refreshing to see some bold angles.

Thomas W,

What was the intent of the design at first?
Utilitarian?

Would there be a lanyard hole?
The transparent G-10 looks like plastic piece straight off the rapid prototyping machine but ME LIKEY A LOT.

Here is a green G-10 variation:

:thumbup: I am REALLY liking the green scales!

Keeping the belt finish on the blade in the production run?

The only thing I'd like to see go is the A/O. I can work with the rest!

I freaking love the black one and it is now on my list of knives to buy. Now how bout the blaze orange scales!! ;) I also like the belt finish left on the knife also any chance of that making it into production? Hey how do I find out exactly when the factory seconds sale is? Me and my dad are going to drive up there for the next one. :)

When I saw the first set of pictures, I hated the look of the knife for one reason and one reason only. I dunno why, but I just absolutely detest the translucent/"natural" G10 look. A company could produce the absolute pinnacle of knife perfection, the last folder anyone would ever need, and price it at such a low point that everyone could afford it, but I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole if it has that ugly, see-through green "frozen mucus" (as someone else put it) handle.

Then I saw the green and black G10 versions, and now I'm digging it very much. A very striking blade, especially with that thumbstud and surrounding cut-out. Also love the handle design, looks like it would be fairly secure and comfortable in-hand. I could take or leave the A/O on a non-flipper (usually something about non-flipper A/O knives unnerves me, like I'm going to somehow lose a chunk of thumb or finger with an absent-minded open, but experience with the Blurs and Whirlwind leaves me fairly comfortable with a thumbstud-only SpeedSafe knife).

Honestly, I'd say you have a winner there.

Love it! Particular points of interest to me; thumbstuds, speedsafe, g10, blade shape!!

I'm intrigued with the handle in relation with the blade shape (sontoku-ish/wharny-ish). I "looks" like it might be good EDC cutter, though the proof is indeed in the pudding.

I love it!:thumbup::D

Amazing design. It looks like a high end Blur, only the design is perfected.
I love the fancy cut-out in the blade. It reminds my of the opening groove I cut into my Boa.
This time when I pop the stud out I won't have to do any extra grinding!
