First Look - Kershaw Echelon

BTW, I think the G10 pattern is a nice addition. A bit different to the already plentiful plainly textured g10 out there. I quite fancy it to be honest.

Any idea on weight? I normally not a big fan of kershaw, but this one has lots of potential for me.

Just hope they arent making some overly thick and heavy blade.

Awesome! I've tried several Kershaws in the past, but they've never really done it for me. This may be the game-changer.

The more I look at it the more I like it, especially with the translucent handle. At first it was like, "a nail nick with a thumbstud?" but it's growing on me.

Thought someone asked for a couple of the following images.

The OP pics look much better now that the knife has been whiped off. I'd put this one in a tie for 2nd after the Knockout(1st) and tied with the Piston.

That's very nice. I love the tip down low profile clip as well, reminds me of the old cento 3 I had.

Any eta for it?

Of the three, I still like the Echelon the most (after popping the studs).
The other two would be fantastic in a 4" version, except that would put them in direct competition with the Tilt. And in that competition, they would lose.

Just wanted to chime in, even on the 7th page, that I will buy this knife when available. Please release quickly :)

Wow, 7 pages of comments! I really like the translucent scales and the grinds. The G10 scales and blade shape are pretty nice, too. Not crazy about the thumb stud/slot, though.

Thought you all might be interested in an original CAD shot.

Why does Kershaw always use 14c28n... I live in a temperate climate and all of my Kershaw knives in that steel rust in a week

It's most likely the bead blast finish that is giving you corrosion issues, not the 14C28N. A little preventative with your blades with that steel/finish combo will go along way.

Along with Sandivik, Kai USA developed 14C28N. We found it to be a really nice blend between value and performance.

The more I look at this the more I like it, but I'm still not sure about the studs. I was wondering about how far the studs stuck out. I couldn't quite tell from the top view picks, but the CAD drawing really shows them well. It doesn't look like they stick out as far as I thought, which is good. I think I'd reserve final judgment for when I get my hand on one. I may even start a pass around.
