First Look - Kershaw Echelon

I really like the speedsafe on kershaw knives and its so easy to pull out the torsion bar if you want to make it manual. are people not happy because they cant order a knife with speedsafe or they just dont know how to turn it manual.

ps how thick is the liner lock compared with knives that are in production now because one of my main turn offs on a knife other than blade play and uncentered blades (thats why 90% of all the knives I buy now are kershaws or zt) are thin liner locks.

My god... Kershaw never fails to dissapoint. Seriously, I'm lusting after this one.

Screw getting more semi-productions and customs, all I need to make me happy are my $89.95 MSRP Kershaws.

Keep it up Kershaw! (psst... make this non-assist please!)

Lol, I think you mean the opposite of what you said.

About the knife, is this a Speedsafe knife? My Speedsafes use a slotted track in the backspacer, but this one appears to be open backed. Does that mean that this is a new assisted design? I like the fact that it doesn't have a plastic spacer to crack

But that grind does not appeal to me. I like the shape of the bushings, the translucent g-10, the A/O, but the blade itself does not look good. The grind gets so low near the handle that it must impede its slicing ability. It looks like a hollow grind, but I'd much prefer a higher hollow grind for a thinner edge... it would both cut better and be easier to sharpen.

Give me one, NOW! It better be the translucent green G-10 too dammit!

That is a sweet lookin knife Thomas! Well done Kershaw! I haven't been this taken with a knife in a long time.

It is very exotic... I like it a lot, congratulations and thanks for sharing.
Do I see the torsion spring through the translucent scales?

Kershaw should really do a proto giveaway. we have seen enough, we need someone to give us (mostly) unbiased tests.
(I would settle for the first blem)

And if you pull out the torsion bar wouldn't the knife just fall open when it's closed? It must be easy for kershaw to build a version that acts like a solid simple linerlock for all those with stricter laws. I like Kershaws but I can't buy them because they wouldn't even past customs when I order them :(

All the interesting models seems to have speedsafe :(

I have removed speedsafe from my blur multiple times, and the detent ball holds it closed just fine.
As for customs, i am sure that kershaw could find some way to send out one without a torsion bar.

Looks just like the assembly used on the Blur to me.

Lol, I registered on this forum just to share my excitement for this blade! I love the extremely light weight of the blade and the deep carry ability that is delivered, but I also love the departure from what I would call more "Traditional" blade shapes. That is my personal preference, I love things that are generally against the grain and different, and this blade is just that for me. The translucent g-10 is also another departure from that norm that I love, however honestly I'd rock a O.D. G-10 handle with a black coated blade... That would just be sick!

My only problem with this knife is that it's still a prototype and I'm forced to wait for it... So.. do hurry so I can place my order!

God help me if you don't produce it that I can get my hands on a prototype lol!

really cool that blade looks really bad ass pretty spyderco looking blade shape i really like it i would buy all three if they were out right now looks like kershaw is going to have a good year!!!!!

I like it :)
Wonder how the blade shape works in cutting tasks.
The translucent scales are sweet!
