First Look -Kershaw+ Emerson Collaboration !!! You gotta see these beauties!

I like some of the designs (perhaps a couple of 4" blades would have been nice), but the fact that they are made in China out of 8Cr... puts me off a bit. For some reason I have a hard time warming up to modern budget folders made in China or Taiwan. I guess I'll go with the ZT-Emerson colaboration.

I absolutely love that these are being made. I can't wait to get one.... Or more!

I like the look of the CQC-6K. I've only handled one Emerson (CQC-7BW), and it is a beefy knife. Very interested to see how those designs turn out in these knives.

Very interesting knives. Just not for me. The wave on these knives is more like a tsunami! I don't think they could come out of my pocket without opening. That's not a bad thing!! Just not what I need. ....... Probably buy one or two anyway!!!!

Just noticed most of them are frame locks. Think they screwed the pooch on that. Not very Emerson.

Sweet something of someplace... I'm going to be spending a lot on Kershaw this year. Between these, the blackwashes, the G10 Cryo... Hell, I can buy half a dozen and still be under the cost of a ZT. :D

Hmmm. Might have to pick up a CQC5K and blackwash tanto Cryo II. Depends on what Ontario has coming, but I really like that green liner lock.

Insipid... I am a management consultant in nyc and my boss works for s&w's CEO. Do you think their knives are a brand liability? I asked him just now after reading your post to bring this up with the CEO. I used hk benchmades as an example of better licensing and brand preservation.

Hard to say, but I think I would lean towards them being a liability. It's pretty commonly accepted in the knife community that S&W firearms are pretty loosely connectes with the knives and that the quality of one isn't a reflection on the other, but for casual users? Yeah, I think it might be an issue. I don't think S&W has to go crazy upscale, but having their knife line in the hands of someone like Kershaw or Spyderco would certainly improve the reputation and quality of their knives.

I'm pretty excited about these. I've been thinking about carrying a smaller EDC (dragonfly 2) in my right pocket for normal tasks and a larger folder in my left pocket for larger jobs and self defense. IMO, the wave feature is perfect to use in a weak hand pocket. The waved spydercos are just fugly in my opinion and I wouldn't use a real Emerson enough to justify the cost, so one of these will be on my must have list for 2014.

Not a huge fan of the black coating or the cheesy pocket-clip skull, but you can't please everyone.
