Fishing rods...huh?

It's likes pool! It's not the stick it's the shooter lol. I can honestly tell you the most fun I've had fishing was when I was using a lightning rod and pinnicle reel when I was a kid....I caught more fish then then i do now

Haha...so true, I grew up using a pistol grip with a zero 33 and always caught bass, granted I catch much bigger ones now, but thast what happens when you only fish topwater

Once you figure in a blank that has the sensitivity to even compete with nrx level let alone an x7 you are looking at 300 easy (the k2 blank) then you have to add titanium sic or torzite guides a good reel seat (cause why skimp out now) the right grips the right guide placement and correct orientation to the spine. Perfect wrap job perfect epoxy... plus labor and whatever extra he chooses to charge you are over the price the the x7

Keep in mind I have not handled an X7 but I have fished an NRX. You can get a St Croix Legend Elite blank for under 200 which imo is superior to the NRX blank, you can probably get a full set of TI recoil guides for right at 100 depending on how many you need, 10 bucks for a Fuji ACS reel seat, and 30-40 bucks for a nice cork handle. So unless the builder charges more than 300 in labor you should come in right at the cost of an NRX and have a rod built to your specs instead of having to go with what the manufacture decides to offer.

Also if you are wanting to compare to the XX series you could even step it down to an Avid blank and much less expensive guides.

Do any of you know if the MB rods ever go on sale at TW

Also is there a worm rod that can throw from wieghtless to say 1 1/2oz

Mb rods rarely go on sale. Idk why but they a stingie like that.
A rod that could do that and be pretty damn good at 1.5 is my favorite rod of all time and it's the perfect pitch. A weightless senko isn't really all that light so alot of rods can load up and wing it. The perfect pitch wouldn't be ideal for it but it can handle it for sure

Not to offend you but I couldn't put recoils on anything. I hate them with a passion. But to each their own. Legend extreme blank is under a nfc hm blank in my hands and both to me fail miserably when compared to an nrx.

I am trying to decide between a MH and a H. I normally don't throw a wieghtless and am at the 3\4 mark or better 90% of the time. I see most heavies are rated at 3/8-1 1/4 or so and am thinking it would do better but am not sure about castability

It's all about the tip and if it loads well. The 13 envy black 73 mh is a great candidate for the job

Well would you happen to know if the new zillion rod loads well, it seems from what I have read that people are very happy and impressed with it
I considered the envy black but I have noticed a trend with bad qc, rods breaking, "guides half missing"wink wink and really don't want to deal with that
Although right now it TW had the one I wanted I would probably get it because the only one they have is the 7 11 Hvy for 129.00!!
Haha...nevermind, that was the omen black and not the envy black

What model are you looking at in the new zillion? If it has an xtra fast tip it should help to load a senko well on any model

It's the 7'3" MH F but now you have me thinking and reading more reviews, videos about the envy black and from what I have seen, the 7'3" MH XF would be the rod to get. Which is crazy because it is only 50 bucks cheaper than the xx unless I got lucky and got it on sale

TW will have a tax day sale april 15 and maybe a sale on May 31st. They will put everything but the specific items that have the MAP on them, shimano, loomis, etc. etc. dunno if MB falls under that.....The 13 fishing might be on sale then.

Sweet, thanks for the info, I will definitely look into that and wait for the Sal then

Got an email for landbigfish dot com easter sale 15% off, code is easter16
I have done a couple bait and reel orders with them in the past. good service.
