Fishing rods...huh?

It is good to see you guys views on the military. It always hurts my heat when I see people ragging on military people because they have no idea what it is like and it usually stems from selfishness

My grandpa was awarded a bronze start from the Korean War. I ended up having a kid when I was 18 but I wanted to enlist and got talked out of it. The other day my woman bought a guy wearing a Vietnam vet hat supper when she was in hyvee and seen him sitting by himself. There are more people out there that care then don't but the ones that don't care can eat a you know what

Man I grew up near a base and some of the folks left me with an unfavorable opinion. But living in Jax and meeting many active and former military I have gained the utmost respect for you people that put your ass on the line. It's like anything else there are bad seeds but most of you folks deserve a huge thanks in any way we can provide it.

Here is what she looks like all painted up. I got more hedge hog bits, an avail star and hawgtech handle coming this week

DUDE... I LOVE the metal flake in it, looks freaking aswesome..on another note, I am trying to decide between the 7'3" MH envy black or the MB EMTF or the perfect pitch, I think the PP might be to much rod, but they seem to be made out of the same 40 ton blank
Just wish there was somewhere I could handle these

I hear you buddy, I have bought all my rods "blind" because no on carries them or has them. Wish I could help

Thanks! I like the metal flake too. Wait till the handle and parts are on

Nice lookin Abu man!
Between those 3 rods nick are you ever around heavy cover? Do you throw any Texas rigs under 3/8 total weight? Do you blast the hook and do alot of boat flipping? The perfect pitch is a damn good rod for most single hook applications if you have a solid hook and atleast a 3/16oz weight. If it was me and I wanted to throw from 1/8 tungsten trigs to senkos to 1/2 oz with 10" worms and uo to 3/4oz jigs and everything in between relatively well I would grab the emtf. But in heavy cover and where alot of nuts is need it would the pp everytime

I usually don't throw real heavy cover, just the normal structure, most of what I use is a 4-6" ring fry, and usually use a 5/16 oz screw in bullet wieght, total wieght for that is 3/4oz. I have started throwing them wieghtless, wieght is at 7/16 oz total for the wieghtless. I also use a creature at times. I would say most of the time it is probably in the 3/8 oz min to 1 oz max, usually never go any bigger than a 10" worm with a 5/16 wieght or smaller than a 6" wieghtless twitchin worm. I have personally found the 4-6" green pumpkin or chartuse ring fry is about the best plastic I have ever used

No one had ever answered one of my previous questions, does the wieght rating of a rod refer to total wieght of Lure or just the actual wieght. I see people refer to a 3/8 jig being perfect but then they have a good size trailer on it

I noticed that question sorry I didn't answer it. It is total weight normally although it is mainly there as a reference. Like line weight. It honestly sounds like the emtf would be you rod. The cheaper version would be the megabass levante emtf. I would use the perfect pitch to do anything you mentioned there but I have alot of trees and thick weeds along with boat docs I'm skipping under where I'm at.

Here is my old levante with a steez sv on it :D

Its funny, the JM elite I have is a 6'8" mh rated for 3/8 to 1oz and I also have a 7 ft mh rated for 3/8 to 1.5 oz. The JM almost feels like it doesn't have enough back bone and the tip seems to soft, it is a extra fast tip but I actually like the feel of the 7 ft mh f in my hands better, I think if I had a rod with a lot of backbone but was able to cast trigs and such that would be good. What are your thoughts on the 7' jig and worm rod, it has the lure rating I am looking for, maybe I just need to taper my fishing to the emtf rod and use a lighter wieght
All these decisions are hurting my head...lol

Just as a side note, I did put some fluro on the JM when I normally run braid and that make have had a effect on the feeling

Rods of different lengths and graphite will preform differently no matter what. The jig and worm rod would be a good one also but if I recall right alot of people think it's blank is too stiff. I haven't fished it so I can't help ya on that one. Have you tried calling tw and checked if you could demo a rod?

That's right I see know, the jig worm rod is rated as a heavy. Just wonder, how does the emtf being a med/mh compare to most other mh

I am learning what this parabolic bend is, from my understanding, it would be more desirable to have it as it keep pressure on the fish by means of the rod better, so less likely of the fish coming off. I also seem to get the sence that most of the higher end rods have it. Would you say most all the xx line are built like this. Is this a more desirable bend rate than say a normal cheaper rod that only bends at the tip. I don't think I have ever fished with one like that so don't know what to expect
And by your description it sounds like that would be the most perfect combination of attributes you would want in a rod

This was also a response from Gary dobyns when asked about parabolic rods

"I asked him what the true definition of a parabolic bending rod was. "It's a rod that has a slow bend or action throughout the rod. When you load a true parabolic rod, the whole rod bends back close to the handle and even into the handle. Parabolic rods are not very popular today and Dobyns Rods doesn’t make any." (from Ultimate Bass).

The emtf will not bend to the handle but the top 2/3 of the rod blend together perfectly to a stout back bone. Unfortunately not all xx rods are like that and the emtf is a special one indeed. The perfect pitch almost transforms when a fish is on the line and a 5 plus really makes it go into a deep flex. When a 2lber is on its like it knows it and doesn't flex lol. Well it obviously flexes nice but not like it does with a bigger one obviously

It looks like after doing a lot of reading forums, the PP might be the ticket for what I throw, 1/2oz and bigger. They say the emtf is good for upto 5/8 but over that and it starts to feel like the rod is being over powered. If you are throwing 1/2oz or bigger jigs with trailers the PP is the one to get from what I have read
How is the castability of the hvy PP?

With all that being said though, I could always use the frog rig to double as the heavier worm jig rod if I had to, it is the 7'3" HVY omen black 2
And use the emtf for the lighter stuff
Sorry for all the back and forth, I am just trying to get it all figured out as I have never really gotten dedicated rigs before, most everything I had was a med-MH for everything
