Fishing rods...huh?

I was guessing it to be conservatively 6.5. I have no idea how big it was because my scale was at home :( figures huh? Yes I got this one tonight right after ice out pretty much.

she looks to be closer to 9 or 10lb, bet that was fun, it has been a while since I got one that big

Another question, I am setting up a swimbait rod and am planning on putting a Calcutta on it and the rod choices are a okuma guide select "a" 7'11" H MF rated for 1 -6oz vs a dobyns fury 7'9" MH F rated for 1-5oz, which would be better for that?

It was pretty fun. Thanks. Chatterbaits early spring rock

Great fish man! I seen some nice ones so far this yr. Chatterbaits ROCK year round. I been throwing them alot as my moving bait of choice. What brands? You throw the JDM ones? I want to get the Jackall dera break, I hear the evergreen bladed jig is super good. I been throwing mainly KaRu Baits Vibrashock and sometimes a Nutech crazy jig. I personally prefer a bladed jig with a split ring instead of the blade direct to the jig head.

I don't do swim baits, do Ill keep quiet. Bet your wallet and sanity are glad LOL.

Chatterbaits are great year round but this time of year they work like a champ here anyways. When it comes to swimbait rod and reels I'd just go with whatever feels right to you. My cousin got a leviathan for it and I use a zbone le6 1-6oz Alabama rig rod and a tatula. I don't throw much huge baits though so

If your looking to have that one really sensitive combo I would highly consider spending less on reel and more on rod. If I had the choice between my expride and chronarch ci4 or x7 and tatula I'm taking the x7 and tatula all day. Especially with the quality of sub $200 reels that are out these days.

Well I am no rod snob, as I really have no point of reference, so I'm guessing the xx is going to be head and tails above what I am used to, plus I am more of a mechanical mechanism nut and love the zillion sv tw even though I have never had a diawa before. It just the engineering, design and thought process behind all the inner workings of the reel that I really relate to.
Yes, the rod is VERY important but when you have a lot of moving parts that all have to work together harmoniously for a long time,(more chances for something to break) that is what I tend to focus on getting the best I am able to. I probably could not tell the difference much between a tatula and a nrx, so the way I look at it is if I get something I know to be good, from all the input I read, then I will probably be happy with it and not wish I had something more sensitive when I don't even know what that kinda level of sensitivity feels like

Holy crap, that x7 cost more than the xx and sv tw combined by itself. Just can't see it being THAT much better than the xx, seems like diminishing returns at that point. I mean whats the point of having a rod you can feel the fish staring at you Lure for, you WILL feel it when he takes it on just about any rod.
I could maybe see the point if you are a pro, but not in my circumstances.

Huh...that's funny, I see buying a rod that expensive like me and 300.00 folders, I don't want to use them at that point....lol

The x7s are a masterpiece and you pay for them. Just like evergreen kaleidos(look prices on evoluzion like I caught my bass on, arms series, and kaleidos if ya really want to poo yourself!) It all comes down to what YOU want in the end. The x7 and new tatula ct would be just fine with me but once you go x7 you will never look at another rod the same(including the evoluzion...sensitivity is not up to par with a x7 sadly)

Man, can you explain like what you feel with that rod, like what does it do that makes it so crazy sensitive or examples of what it will transmit, it's hard to explain but I have no idea about what that rod tells you is going on with you Lure and line

Yea, 1000.00 for a rod is just plain ridiculous, sure I have heard of fly rods costing that much but I think they are a lot more involved and longer which makes them cost more

It's hard to explain. It's something you need to use to understand. They are crisp and clear. Like little tiny things you never noticed before...you can pretty much tell if you weight is going a rough rock or a smooth one lol. You can hear a fish hit you line through the rod. You can use a lure and hear it scrapping rocks through the thing....idk it is honestly something you need to feel to understand. The xx is more than plenty sensitive to blow your mind with what you are used to though. Will it catch you more fish?? It will certainly help

Now that's intresting, with the JM elite I have, i can feel the bottom, tell you what the bottom is made out of and feel the tiniest bite as well. I use to kidd around and say I could almost feel the fish staring at my worm.
