Fishing rods...huh?

If you want a custom on par with a NRX, you are looking at a minimum of about 800 to do it right. Yes you can have bubba down the street make you one, but you will be sorely disappointed. The NRX is the king of sensitivity, while Megabass is the king of versatility. The only MB rod that comes close is the Evoluzion C40. This coming from an owner and user of both.

Those are some really nice reels, I though the x7 was better than the nrx.
That looks like a zillion?

It is the Megabass version of the Zillion. IP79 is the name.

X7's. Are great rods...I have 3 of them, but in my hands the NRX gets the sensitivity knod.

Plus with a full time job, a 1 and 4 year old, chores, honey do list, life, fishing to be done, it just seems easier to go and buy one already made. I already have enough choices to make, don't want anymore
Not knocking customs, I love any and everything custom, but it depends on if there is already something made for me that will work for me, if there's not, usually I make it myslef

I agree, I talked to a couple builders about customs. I almost went with one guy but he had different ideas than what I wanted. It is difficult to pick out the pieces and convey a message over the phone or email to some person and it will probably not be exactly how you thought it would be. There are absolutely more than enough great rods out there in all price ranges to be had. All you have to do keep trying them til you find the one you like.

So let me ask you guys with the X7's what are your thoughts on the 500 dollar offerings from Abu Garcia (fantasia) and Phenix (K2). The phenix is built on a 300 dollar blank, guides are top but I heard finish is blah. Abu's veracity impressed me as I felt the feel and finish were right there with my Dobyns Champion which I was sorely disappointed with. This is just for conversational purposes I am interesting in hearing from folks that have fished some proven 500 plus dollar rods.

I have never laid my hands on the Fantasia, but on paper and pics they look very nice. I have a buddy who owns a K2 with torzite guides, and it is very close in sensitivity to the NRX. It is also a very good looking rod and super light. One of my favorite rods is the X7 F6 75X7 Extreme Mission. This particular rod is not a lightweight, but the power and action ratings are spot on to what I am used to. It is a beauty to look at and although it is not as sensitive as my NRX, I do not feel like I may be missing bites while using it. Fishing gear is like all other hobby things, get and use what makes you happy. I have "loaner" rods that I let guests use, and although they are much less expensive rods, neither myself or others mind using them, and they still catch fish.

Just goes to show you sensitivity is subjective. Lt hall I have and use both and actually got rid of nrxs because they couldn't do what the x7s were doing in both versatility and sensitivity. Even the 893 is not as good to me. Yea you can feel things just fine but not with the crispness and x7 blank has to offer. Funny you think the c40 can come close to an nrx...I think it is at under nrx level or right with it and pretty far from the x7. Nice ip and lin btw

Now you have to much money, or not enough sence...hahaha
Sweet collection you got there, I KNOW I would not be able to use a 7-1000 dollar rod, unless it had a lifetime replacement warranty with it. I would just be to scared to use it for fear of a accident

It all adds to the excitement! I'm with lt hall on the fact that it doesn't matter what rod or reel flavor you hit the water with. As long as you are having fun and catching fish even an ugly stick will do just fine

Left to right: X4 Super destruction, Black Jungle Frog Game Special, Destroyer Slant Bridge Brigandage, X7 Bearing Down, X7 Extreme Mission, Evoluzion C40 Mephisto, NRX 873, NRX 854, and NRX 853.

Until there is a quantifiable way to measure sensitivity, it will always be an individual thing. Fish what ya got and enjoy it.

How can you think any nrx beats out the bdtx!? That is the most sensitive x7 I've used ...thing is a beast

Sweet reels, my buddy has a IP68......I always like the style MB puts on them.

I decided to throw a little money to my fishing habit, got an avail 5.1 mm spool for a Revo Gen 1. She is all tore down for fresh paint.

Post some pictures of her when it's done
