Michael!! Nice bro!! Haha! Don't you just love it??? I sure do!! I just love the silver bezel on that badboy, it just adds that little something to it, ya know!!

What do you think of the rotary compared to the SWM? I couldn't see your whole lanyard there buddy

Thanks guys! I have played with it a little and I like it quite a bit. The swm is nice but this is on another level. The rotary an the butt of the light is a big improvement over the magnetic ring. The swm may still have room in a "rotation" but the HDS is an early favorite.

And the lanyard is beadless.

First impressions... This seems to be a nice little light. Totally carry able. Works great with the lanyard tucked under my belt and "hanging" in my left pocket. Beam seems nice, it is kinda dark in my basement. A bit brighter hotspot but not as much flood as the swm v11r that will share pocket/house duties. I consider this a good thing as it was exactly what I was looking for. Here's a pic:

Congrats Michael, glad it worked out for you and you were able to snag one.... Love mine as well!

Glad everyone are enjoying the new acquisitions and putting to use prior torches. It gets to the point where you just have to enjoy your light for what it is. J81 I still use my HDS 170 LE clicky all the time, it is in my outdoor jacket and is quick to retrieve from the outer pocket, simple press of the tail button and I get quality light, no fuss or adjustments, just solid light, everything else boils down to refinements refinements. For me, my itch has been scratched thoroughly !

Mine arrived last night and it looks great, except an area that snagged my finger. Closer inspection revealed a divot or punch mark with a rough burr edge. I would not think this is normal or serve any purpose. This is expensive, so I would think it'd be perfect out of the box.

Also, the package appeared to be missing a piece. Theres a molded area above the light. Was there supposed to be something there?

Mine arrived the same way, both the small burr and the package.

I kinda shrugged off the ding since it's pretty much a given that I'm going to drop the thing. The package looks like it's set up to hold a clip, don't think they're available yet..

I think the clip is extra, so maybe he has one package style and if you pay for the clip he adds it to the package?? The blemish is another matter for sure.

There's a small amount of comfort in that. If they are all like that, then it may be a manufacturing mark off some sort. I sent an email to seller FWIW. I'll also wait for more responses to see if more lights have the marks.

The machined slot is required for final assembly and figment of the rotary assembly to the light body.

Excellent news and thank you for the clarification. Based on reputation, I found it hard to believe it was a defect.

I suggested (to Henry) the inclusion of a small "notice" with brief explanation back when they shipped in the zip lock bag. Guess he talked to my teenagers, because the suggestion met a familiar response.
Crickets.

Lots of misinformation out there about that hole, look back a few pages, it was discussed recently:

The burr shouldn't be there but could be remedied in a couple of seconds.
