Flea market finds

What a great find man super cool that's the kinda stuff I look for all the time.

Ok guys so me and the wife went out today to some antique shops around Chicago.i found a few knives and would like to share them with you so tell me what you think.

first up is this stockman uncle henery from schrade paid 10 bucks for it nice knife so i grabbed it .

next is this serpentine jack from Imperial cost me 5 bucks and i liked it

Now this one i really like this is also a serpentine jack but from a brand i know nothing about is a Hammer brand knife so if you know anything about this please chime in its made well and sturdy paid 5 bucks.

now the last one i bought for the scales they seem to be acrylic but man did they call to me so i bought it for 8 bucks. Its a imperial also but again the scales drew me to it also a serpentine jack.

So any information on these knives you can give would be great thanks for checking them out i love to share these things.

Thanks Keith, I usually look for knives to find when I'm out at a flea market or antique store. The display case just happened to have caught my eye like the Imperial knife you shared. I love the looks of the scales. So to you I say Great Find.

Jamie

These were all fleamarket knives and all bought for $5 and under.

Very nice collection! Did I spot a glass cutter on one of them? I've never seen one like that.

The Utility knife is a german Glaser's/Glazer's knife with a built in glass cutter, I have another one but those two are the only ones I've ever seen. In 15 years I know as little now as I did then.

One of the perks of living in NEPA is that a lot of the great makers and shakers in the knife industry either resided here or within a state line of here so being the starting point for US made knives heading out across the globe, many had never left the state saturating this area with native (PA, NY, NJ) made knives more so than the rest of the country they had to be shipped to.

Had to take the day off work to go to the VA clinc trying to get my disability worked out. So looks like after that it's antique store time can't wait to find some cool stuff.

I'm kinda jealous, now. Next time I go to PA, I have to schedule some time to go hunting for those brands I rarely find in the pawn shops and flea markets down here. I have a friend who claims that knives with federal shields were less popular in the South, and I can't disprove it.

On the other hand, I do run into more old Bokers than folks up north seem to. Lots of German immigrants settled Central Texas, so they were popular enough to turn up from time to time.

Well just walked in the door bought a few knives going to clean them up a little and post them a little later

Ok guys i said i would post some knives i found today. I had to take the day off to go to the VA for some doctors appointments and man i had a good time looking in all the booths and just the hunt. Now i know these aren't high end knives or super collectors but man just finding something that someone just forgot or got rid of is so much fun. Also cleaning them up and showing you guys is a fun part of my day and i am glad there are some of you that also appreciate the fun and knives i find and have. i try too keep the finds something cool and well made for around 10 $ or less. But don't get me wrong i am always in the market for old school case etc etc. I cant wait till spring and garage sales and yard sales start again. Now these knives i know little about and internet searches gave little to no info so please if you know anything about them or can point me in the way to find out please feel free. I truly hope you enjoy looking at them as much as i enjoyed finding them, cleaning them, and then sharing them with all of you my friends on the porch. Keith,

Your Towika is actually a Jowika Republic of Ireland knife. Here is a little excerpt of history:

"Jowika Stahwlarenfabrik Eugen Weber & Altenbach KG was the full name of this German mfr of low-end mass market cutlery. It began prior to 1928 under the name Kleinwefers; became Jowika some time prior to 1939.

Jowika opened a branch factory in Listowel, Ireland, in 1960, which was acquired by Imperial Schrade in 1978. Closed about a year and a half before Schrade closed."

Hey Robert thanks for the info man at coffee while at work today I'm going to try to find out more about all there thanks agian

The Anvil will be by Colonial, I expect.
I have Irish Sabres and Japanese Sabres, but I've never seen a USA Sabre!

When it comes to pocket knives, Keith, I think you're livin' the dream!!:D:thumbup: I totally endorse your "philosophy" that I highlighted above.

Another major-league score at the flea market!!

That Imperial fish knife is nifty. I especially like the shield; don't recall ever seeing one with the fish shield (but I don't get out much ). The 2-blade models you found probably had a fish-scaler blade as the secondary blade, right? Does yours have the top of the clip "serrated" to use for scaling? I really like the Imperial toothpicks that have a pen secondary; they're longer than I typically like to carry, but that's the pattern one of my grandpas used to carry.

I don't really know anything about your other knives, but all three look like good solid winners! You're on a roll!:cool:

This is not mine, it is a duplicate of the one that I found at a garage sale. I bought it in 1998 for $35.00; I sold it for $450.00.

I'd say that's a modest profit. [emoji12] I wish I'd taken better care of things as a kid. I've had a few knives that I could have sold at a serious profit had I kept or taken care of them. Ah, to know then what I know now.

Let's just focus on the knives, not the monetary values. Thanks.

Picked this Imperial Barlow up at a flea market today. I know it isn't anything special, but they were practically giving it away, so I figured why not. Had some rust on the blades, and the joints were gritty, but it cleaned up alright. Looks like it used to have a company name or something on the covers, but it has worn off.
