Can a folding bushcraft knife compete with the fixed blade version?

Yes - I can do this design left-handed, not a problem.

With any luck I'll have these 2 prototypes done on Friday. If so, look for an email over the weekend to finalize details...because I'm nearly ready to start!

Check it out!

Mechanically, this folding knife is completely finished. Lock-up is solid. No play, no wiggle. And this folder is stout! Really fills your hand as you can see in the video.

There's still a lot of work to do in terms of grinding and finishing the blade, deburring and finishing the liners, blasting the handle parts, etc. But it's all cosmetic from here on out.

This has been "in the works" for a LONG time....I can't tell you how excited I am to see it finally coming to completion.

Thanks for reading and watching!

Yes, I was told I could get a left hand model.

Sorry, as president of the Anti-Lefty Coalition I must deny your request........LOL. I thought you meant the whole thing was being developed for left handers......my bad. COOL to see that your issue will be addressed, Koster rules.

Like the long blade-almost as long as the scales, like you said it would be. So many folders short change you on blade length.
FYI-A 13 second video is just wrong!(but better than a 12 second video)-imho

Pics! Check 'em out!

The Bushcraft Folder fits in a standard Bushcraft leather sheath from JRE.

Wowee, I reaaaaaaaaally like that.

I wasn't really sure how I felt about a folding bushcraft knife. I was sort of "on the fence". Not anymore.

Thanks for the video and the photos.

Will a choice of scales be offered?

Love the pics. Now I'm getting excited. I have my spot reserved via Daniel's website. I'm probably at the end of the list since I didn't find out about it until July.
Quick question what are the handle scales made out of in the pics. Is that the black micarta?
Thanks and hope to see more pics soon.

I'll update it as soon as I get these prototypes done.

You might have noticed....I worked some orange G10 liners into the handles. Pretty sweet if you ask me. :D

Nice, I wanted liners but they weren't an option on the order form. Are they now an option on the first run?

Yes - liners are an option. I use thin G10 as a liner and then machine the scales down to the right thickness and to make sure the two scales match.

While we're on the subject of thickness...

Just email me when your order comes up and I'll add liners to it. You're correct - it wasn't an option at first because I wanted to test it out first. And the good news is...it came out GREAT. Really pleased with how it turned out.
