Can a folding bushcraft knife compete with the fixed blade version?

I do appreciate you guys catching this for me - honestly, I somehow completely missed it until late last night. It's nice to have such a good group of guys here on my forum. Thanks!

Can you describe and perhaps show some pictures of the different options for titanium finish?

I'm mostly interested in the bead blasted, stone tumbled, bright and orange peel.

What might "other" be? Can you give an example?

The knife looks really nice, I put myself on your list the other day :)

Quick description - I'll post up pics another day. Too much going on this week.

bead blasted = a gray, matte finish. Non-reflective.
stone-tumbled = a mottled, flat semi-matte finish good for hiding scratches.
bright = straight off the grinder at 220 grit (aka satin, brushed finish).
orange peel = a highly textured finish made with a wire wheel.

The standard finish will be "bright" if not specified. All edges are deburred regardless of finish.

Thanks! Looking forward to those pictures! No hurry, you'll probably have plenty of time before it's my turn to choose ;)

Blades will go out for heat-treat next week. More delays - as always - no promises. They get done when they get done.

Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be ready to open up the list for the next 20.

Thanks!
Dan

matching blades to liners and then sending blades off to heat-treat.

Everybody have a Merry Christmas!

Wow, I haven't checked in for awhile. The liners made it look very nice. I'll own one eventually! :) Thanks for keeping us up-to-date.

I was talking to Dan about carbon fiber handle scales on this one for light-weighted-ness, and even though that would be cool, I have come to the conclusion that the micarta version would have a better "feel" in the hand. I was initially thinking of this as a survival kit knife, but the more I consider it, the more I think it would be an EDC blade for me. I know, I know, it's a big EDC'r, but I live in a remote place, where a large folder is not at all out of place. Anyway, I'm super excited!

This IS the knife for me in 2015! I sure hope I can get in on one! Thanks for making what nobody else will Dan!

Hey, Dan, I just filled out the pre-order form on your website. I'm a proud owner of one of your older Nessmuks, and the folding Bushcraft is the best thing I've seen in years. If there's any update on when the next 20 might be in the works, I'd appreciate it.

The blades were supposed to be off to heat-treat this week but I have been sick all week long. I started cutting handles already.

Hang in there Dan! In the last two weeks I've had a cold and a couple of bouts with the flu. It has been an evil winter...

just now getting back to normal in the shop. Will keep you guys posted.
Dan

Yall are really going to like these. I got to handle Dan's folder the other day and it was sweet. Smooth as silk opening and closing. It had a tight lock up and with plenty real estate that I would trust it in reasonable battoning/semi hard use. It was one of few folders that I can say I've actually liked and could see me using. That being said, I'm still more a fan of his fixed blades but that's solely because I have a strong preference for fixed blades in general.

liners are almost finished.

I've got the first few handles cut out and will be cutting more next week. If you're on the order list - get your $$$$ ready. :D :p
