Fort Turner pics please

Yeah I'm sticking with - no pun intended - H&B from now on. Jarrod had my spontoon tomahawk done and shipped within a couple weeks, and the craftsmanship is first rate. AND that was a custom order too; not something he's used to making a lot of.

That's sad to hear Wolf. To see a good forge turn negative over the course of my order is a little discouraging. I'd go ahead and buy an H&B now, except I don't have the money at the moment. If I get a refund from FT maybe, but that'll depend on what I hear from Dana. If he can give me a solid date that's close, I'll wait. But if I get some vague answer, I may very well go for that.

Here's a forum about FT on the Muzzleloading page. Pretty discouraging stuff :(

I don't really no what to say I have spoken to Dana many times seems like a great guy and most of his hawks I've seen are awesome. To many orders? Not enough time to fill them don't know hope he can take care of everyone hate to see him get a bad reputation but a little communication goes all long way at least with me.

I understand he has some health issues. I understand he's backlogged. I don't think he is trying to rip anyone off or do anything like that. I just wish the website was more accurate about the waiting period or at least updated about it.

I knew there was a 8 week wait when I ordered it. That 8 week wait becomes a 15 week wait tomorrow. :(

Had I known it was actually a 15+ week wait back then, I wouldn't have bothered with it.

Same here Wolf. This is my first handmade tomahawk order I've placed. I chose fort turner because of the many positive statements on quality and shipping time.
I still hear good things on quality, but I've waited FAR over the amount of time I was told it would take. And I've not gotten anything about that from him.

Part of running a business is sticking to what you promise customers. If I send someone a hundred dollars, I expect them to meet their words, or at least deliver an explanation. I've gotten none of that.

I just want my tomahawk. I've been very patient, I delivered my end, the money, up front. And I've been given no explanations, no estimates, no nothing. Just an email saying "I'll get to it one of these days, please be patient."
7 months is pretty darn patient.

If I ordered a pizza, and was told it would arrive in 30 minutes, only for it to arrive in 7 hours, I wouldn't buy pizza from there again.

Maybe he should stop taking orders until he catches up that would be the smart thing to do .

Strange, usually Dana responds to emails within the same day.

Yet now that I email about a wait time estimate, I'm getting nothing....

EDIT:
Been a couple days, still nothing. Tried calling Fort Turner, nothing. I left a message asking for the status of my order.
I hope to hear something, but now I'm getting annoyed.

It's been long past 60 days since my order, so I don't know if I can file a dispute about this if they ignore my attempts to contact them.

I just want my money or my hawk.

Alright, got an answer.
Word from Dana now is that he's got a batch of polled Iroquois that he's finishing up this next week, and he'll send mine out from there.
I guess I can wait another week.
Got to give him credit, he's not gotten mad or annoyed, if anything he's been very polite and apologetic about the wait.
A little politeness can go a long way.

ANYWAY, I'll wait for my FT hawk. No point cancelling now when it's due soon. I may not order from him again very soon (leastways until Dana can get back up to speed on orders), but I'll keep FT in mind. Maybe in the future he can get some more employees or get some help.

Thank you to those who have kept this thread updated. FT was on my short list of considerations, but I will go another direction now. I have waited for custom holsters for upwards of six months, but I knew beforehand such a time frame was expected. Even certain custom firearms companies (Wild West Guns, Gemini Customs, etc.) experience wait times of up to a year, but notify customers of that before the purchase. A little bit of notification goes a long way to keep folks up to date, and not checking the mailbox everyday for something that is not coming. I hope all of you get what you ordered sooner than later.

Nothing yet Legion. When I contacted him he said it would be about a week and a half. So I'm hoping by an answer by around the 12-14 of this month. Got a couple days left before that. After the 14th, if I don't hear anything I'm going to contact again. I'm staying hopeful, but wary.

When I got my Camp Hawk over a year ago, the edge was WAY to hard, in the high 60s HRC. It was cipping like crazy. I contacted Dana and he agreed it was too hard and told me to send it back to be re-heat treated. Once he got it, he said nothing was wrong with it and told me to "go whack some wood". Not impressed. :thumbdn:

He sent it back without doing anything to it, leaving me to do it myself, with the help of a great blacksmith; Philip West aka Kentucky here on the forums.

With the help of Kentucky, I was able to temper the head in my oven to the point where it wasn't chipping anymore.

I currently have Lisa West (Kentucky's wife) forging me a custom hawk. I have a few of her flint strikers and they are top quality. She guaranties all of her products for life, and her prices are unbeatable.

Here is a picture of the hawk Lisa is making me...

I ordered mine on April 23 of this year so I still have a long wait. I don't mind waiting. What I do mind is no tomahawk. If he's still taking orders and not shipping out any hawks that is a cause for worry. So my question is has anyone received anything this year? If not I think it best that I contest my purchase get my money back and cut my loses.

I've been waiting since march, I've tried to contact Dana several times on the phone and email haven't gotten any response from him.

Still waiting. Sent another email today, asking for a ship time. This is getting preposterous. If he gives me one more deadline that's not met, I'm asking for a refund, plain and simple. It's one thing to be patient, and one thing to have slow work, but if you give someone a timeline, and take their money upfront, you NEED to deliver.

Bummer by the time you get it summer will be over hope you get this resolved soon.

Seriously. I'm considering moving this to the Good, Bad, and Ugly threads.
This is now THREE times Dana or his website have given me an estimate that hasn't been true. And with no correspondence on his end. the only times I've heard from him are when I had to email him.
I don't think he's ripping me off. I do think he's way in over his head with orders and not properly informing the customer. And I know that this is not what I paid for. I would never have ordered the thing if I knew I'd have to wait over half a year with zero factual estimates on completion.

EDIT: Still waiting for a response... getting very annoyed...
