French regional knives...

I'm glad you found my video interesting. I was just visiting France and went to Laguiole and picked up Christian Lemasson's new book which is excellent. I just missed his book signing there by a few days. I did spend some time in Mickael Coignet's shop talking knives and wound up buying one of the knives actually pictured inside.....I also was able to take a 2 day knife making class in Estaing from Christophe Lacaze and learn how to do the filework, shaping of the bee form and handle fitting and left with a beautiful mammoth tusk full handle knife with eye of odin damasteel blade, it was a great visit.

I'm really enjoying this Cognet Capuchin, even if it is rather large for my tastes. Being a friction folder, it is quite light for its size, and I love the blade shape. I'm not sure what the blue mark is on the horn, but I'm assuming it'll wear off. Fit and finish is a little lacking for a knife that cost as much as a GEC, but I wouldn't call it off-putting. There's a couple little rough marks on the horn, the aforementioned blue mark, the blade isn't centered, and a couple pepper spots on the blade.

Frank, what a treat to hear of your visit and see the wondrous specimens you acquired...wow  I look forward to more of your contributions to our little neck of the woods :D:thumbsup: I hope to one day see Christian Lemasson's book translated in English. Like Charlie said, what a dream visit !!

Again, your knives are exquisite and such a pleasure to see:) Thank you !!!

There is for me, a newly discovered art form with your Laguioles, and non-Laguioles, Frank!
Quite amazing work, with a distinct approach to the "lowly" pocket knife!!
These knives bring very classical forms, ostensibly, to the personal self, as opposed to hanging them physically in a cerebral gallery!! OMG!!:D
