I don't think, but olive oil gets sticky if used on the joint. This is news to me. Would oil soften the horn at the stress point?
Aha. Thanks.I don't think, but olive oil gets sticky if used on the joint.
I was thinking of slipjoints, not friction....
Why you have not to put oil on the axis, never "oil de joints"ON A FRICTION FOLDER : because on a simple friction knife the only security you have is the hard friction. If you put some oil on the axis the friction we'll be very soft and your knife we'll not stay open or closed .

Wow I think I was not clear in my explanation
Why horn handle needs oil : only because with the time and our dry and warm houses the material dries, the horn looses its homogeneity, and you can see the different layers stand out from each other.

Please feel free to say me if something is not clear

If it looks like this it is ok, The umbrella is the symbol of parapluie à l'épreuve a subsidiary of Thérias, who produce no more folders.Well, I went and ordered one. I can return it if it isn't right.
It has "Made in France" on a sticker instead of in a stamp, and it has a Parapluie umbrella stamped in front of "Le Thiers".
Great! It looks like the top one. (Except in bois d'amourette) Wood of a small lover. If it looks like this it is ok, The umbrella is the symbol of parapluie à l'épreuve a subsidiary of Thérias, who produce no more folders.
