French regional knives...

I got the measurements from the web site, the handle length is 115 mm which roughly makes it 4.52 long, the blade is 92 mm which makes it about 3.6 inches.

I was carrying this today and realized that I have yet to put up a picture of this knife.

Ordered 4/19, left France this morning, so just a matter of days to NY. This is one of the reasons I'm excited about our hobby again. Took a while to decide, chose my options without the "lollyscramble" and got exactly what I wanted. Edit: photo courtesy of Coutellerie du Barry.

Beautiful Knife, John!!
Quite a coincidence here; I can't remember posting this knife, below!! I think it has the same wood on the handles!! It's my first Laguiole; when I just started getting interested in French knives! Jolipapa Jolipapa took me on a tour of knife stores in Paris, and watched me buy this at a Forge Laguiole Outlet!! Advertised as "Rosewood" I think it's Tulip also!! :) Rose Lag A.jpgRose Lag B.jpg

Nice knife Charlie. I think I need to get me an FdL knife. I really like the stamp they use for their blades.

How ridiculous does that sound? Wanting to buy a knife because you like the blade stamp...hahaha.

Just received my first Laguiole from Coutellerie du Barry. I'm not a knife reviewer but I'll do what I can. The first thing that gets me interested in a knife is its looks. This does not disappoint in any way. The handles are called black pine cone but i don't know what they actually are. It measures at 4" closed and the stamped blade is quite attractive. It's much thicker than I thought but feels good in the hand. It opens and closes with a smooth but hard pull of about 7-8. It exudes quality. I thought all Laguioles had a shepherd 's cross but if not that was my false impression. It arrived with a soft black leather slip. Sort of like a pair of driving gloves. Along with a business card and a card of photos a nice pen was included. Overall an impression of people that care about their product and how they appear. I'd have to rate it a 9.5 because after all I have to believe there's still a 10 out there.
Anyone looking at French cutlery would be very well satisfied. IMG_9620_copy_1920x1069.jpgIMG_9626_copy_1551x1069.jpgIMG_9628_copy_1390x1069.jpg

That's what stabilized pine cone looks like (it's as much black epoxy as it is pine cone), so I suspect that's what it actually is. Beautiful knife. Congrats!
