Gareth bull: Slow Delivery/waitlist thread

My last response was by the end of September on 9/10. One more month and another inquiry un responded in the history books...

Gazza talked to me not too long ago and I believe he told everyone here that his internet wont be up for a while as he is settling in to his new house.

He's working on the knives in batches to optimize time. Id give him till the end of next month before we start to worry again.

I've never posted anything on this forum but as a knife enthusiast, when I saw this thread, I had to post a comment of my experience.
I am not pleased to see that I am not the only one waiting for Mr Gareth Bull and that worries me.
I made an order for a small warlock back in march 2012 and since then it as been quite difficult to speak to him. To resume to the present day, Mr Gareth said to me the same thing he said to wolf5391 that he was working in bachtes and that he had no internet in is new house. That was three month ago.
The thing that worries me is that Mr Bull said to me that my knife was finish nearly 4 MONTHS AGO. Every week , I hope that he send my knife but no such luck.

I just hope that he will make good on his end of the deal and that everyone will get their knife soon

Sorry for the long message and for my english :)

your English is great I could understand everything :)

I have added your name to the list in the original post. I have had the exact same experience as you but I'm still holding out hope. this thread is usually the first thing that is updated when Gareth updates anyone so check back frequently.

So lots of people send money.

Those people receive no actual knives, over a span measured by which YEAR the order was made.

Maker vanishes into a cloud of excuses about Internet access.

Come on, now, guys. There's a word for people who take from others.

this is true but most people don't fall off the map and then keep randomly communicating with updates when they can. Most people leave with the money and never pop back up.

I'm still holding confidence that Gareth will come through.

From what I hear on SABlade Gazza should be getting an internet line today so hopefully everything works out and he starts to communicate again.

In light of keeping you guys up to date, I will post what the KGSA has said to Gareth. I'm not sure what this means about the knives being finished but It is a sad day to see he will no longer be a member of the guild...

Gareth

As you were informed, the complaints received from dissatisfied customers of yours, and your responses, were considered by the Members in EXCO on 26 October 2013.

It was of particular concern to EXCO to note that this problem has escalated to an international level and that it is now reflecting badly on the Members of the South African Knifemakers' Guild as a whole.

Since this was the third complaint of this type received about your conduct, and since you have consistently failed to rectify the problem, in spite of firm undertakings that you have furnished to the Chairman, the Members present at the EXCO meeting on 26 October 2013 unanimously voted in favour of the termination of your membership of the Guild, with immediate effect, in accordance with the provisions of the Guild Constitution.

Kindly therefore immediately cease the use of and remove all references to Guild membership from your correspondence, your promotional material, whether electronic media or hard copy, and refrain from using the KGSA name or logo on any of your products in future.
Regards
Carel Smith
Chairman KGSA.

Man. I guess we here were not the only people taking up issue then on delivery times? I hope Gazza gets things on track.

Good for the SA knife guild, on what I'm sure was a painful decision. They've prevented a bad apple from spoiling the entire barrel. That's no consolation to the people Bull owes, but it says something about the South Africans.

A response from Gareth letting everyone know if he intends to complete the orders, where each customer stands, and offer refunds for those who do not wish to continue waiting would be very informative, comforting to some and appreciated.

I believe when his internet is back up he will chime in. Id rather him be working on knives than chatting here but a little response would be nice.

I have been following this thread since I tried to order a knife from Gareth back in the end of 2012. I hate to say this but I think being a member of the KGSA was what's making him drip "responses" here. Since the day of my first 14.4 modem I can't think of a time when I'm offline for more then a day or two. Now he's no longer a member of the Guild there's no "Big Brother" to enforce some kind of professional conduct.

I think Gareth unintentionally put himself in a position where completing back orders is not a possibility in the near future, good luck.

I think you are right. It is sad for all his customers but it is even sadder for him because he is (or was) making beautiful knife.

Unfortunately the Executive Committee of the KGSA was presented with several complaints over a period of time. They had no choice but to investigate these complaints and act on the results.

I hope and pray that all the orders are fulfilled and Gareth makes good on all the knives.
