Gareth bull: Slow Delivery/waitlist thread

@LoftyNotions:

Thank you for your post. I hope this will make him realize his mistakes and that he will act quickly upon them.
Hopefully, he will contact me soon.

Another week with no news and no replies. What is his excuse now ?

I'm not too sure, I would think he would've at least chimed in on the thread just to keep people from being worried. its been almost another 2 weeks since he signed in last.

I was supposed to get an email the "next week" when he replied to me on the 13th.

I haven't received anything yet.....

Gareth Bull’s pattern seems to be to post generically about how things should start looking up, knives flying out the door, better communication, brother helping, etc. From what I’ve seen, he has not posted any specifics on this thread.

His e-mails to us as individuals are a different matter. Skimming this thread, for wolf5391 I see the following: commitments to a knife delivery to in posts in June, (eta 2 weeks); July 19, (guaranteed his knife would be done and shipped by next week); September 12, (ship by the 18th); October 4, (knife should be done next week); November 13, (supposed to get an e-mail in “the next week”).

For spongebobbf; October 28, (spongebobbf mentions he heard all the same excuses 3 months ago, and that Gareth told him his knife was done 4 months ago, just not shipped); November 14, (spongebobbf receives word from Gareth that his knife will be sent on Friday); November 20, (spongebobbf posts that Gareth contacted him the previous Sunday to say he hadn’t shipped the knife, but that he had booked a car to send the knife today); November 21, (spongebobbf never received word that his knife shipped. He has asked for a refund).

Going through my e-mail correspondence with Gareth, skipping all the ignored e-mails and unanswered questions; August 21, ( I'm flat out right now juggling orders and the annual show (next week) so we're about 2 weeks out on your order. Proceeds from the show will iron out some serious kinks and get the knives flowing again - sorry for being so tardy!!!); November 13, (Your Gyuto is well on it's way, it should only be 2 days work to finish it up so I'll knock it out this month - sorry for the extended wait and thanks for the patience you've shown).

I suspect everyone else on this thread has similar stories. I’m still waiting for evidence that he can actually make a knife, post pictures of it, and deliver it to a paid-up customer. If that starts happening, along with honest communication from him, there will be a chance that he can salvage his business and reputation. I really hope to be able to sing his praises someday.

Larry

..but we still hold on to the idea that some day we will have our knives delivered.

Who is we, do you have a mouse in your pocket? Even for an industry with relatively accepting customers, I don't think you can speak for everyone on this one. I'm sorry for this fiasco OP, you seem like a good guy (very forgiving and patient), but I no longer felt like I was helping you by ignoring the elephant in the room.

Edit:

I'm asking only the moderators and people who have orders with Mr. Bull to post in this thread. I don't want this turning into a "what I would do in your shoe's thread"/ "bash thread" on Mr.Bull.

This thread keeps coming up on the front page, and I had the same thoughts about it in June that I do now. I see why you would want to limit the discourse initially (you think it will help your chances of a positive outcome no?) and I understand that a thread for tracking orders should track orders, but this is well past the order tracking stage of a meltdown (there are no orders to track, no progress, but 18 pages of discussion). I wouldn't want to start a new thread to bash Mr. Bull (he doesn't warrant 2 threads in my opinion) so that's why I posted here. I don't consider it bashing when there is so much evidence of fraud and deceit - it's accurate commentary to call this what it is. If this was truly a thread for tracking progress, (I know what your intent was, but stories and threads like this evolve over time, and this has evolved away from your initial posting) it would stay dormant until progress was made or someone else reported a missed order. This is more of a clinic in deceit and the human psyche than a tracking thread - and the only way this will not degrade into a full blown Gareth bashing thread is if Gareth starts sending out knives pronto, or the mods lock it (I think Gareth used up his last "I'm going to start working now" card). There just isn't anything positive to say for him, it is a little off base to create an 18 page thread of Epic fail on the biggest industry forum and ask people not to comment, and I have to wonder about the intent of the thread in the first place - it was obviously to put pressure on the maker, and make your woes public. I may not have ordered a knife from him (thank god), but I have tracked this thread since it was made earlier this year, and I feel like I'm quite invested in a positive outcome. I have never seen a business person make so many grandiose claims of their forthcoming redemption in such a public fashion, only to disappear each time. It is interesting, frustrating (I can't even imagine for you), but interesting. I still think Mr. Bull thinks he will make good, he is just in a radio blackout from reality (and his customers apparently).

Good luck OP and all the other customers - but realize that every time this train wreck crosses the front page it rustles my jimmies (and I assume others that can empathize with you).

Thank you for your input and you are correct in what you say.

The only other thing I will add is that I had asked for people who had orders only to post, because its a more time consuming task wading through posts of people who have nothing to do with Mr. Bull to find people who have orders.

I'm not saying that people cant post..... if you have something relative to say, say it! But I don't want this thread to get even crazier than it already is and have Gareth never respond back.

It is sad that it even has to come to this but it has and I really just want my knife/knives as promised and on time.

Just an update... I got an email from Gareth today stating he has been sick for a couple days and is working on the warlocks.

he said he is almost to the "Marking stage" on a couple of them.........

I'm assuming that means makers mark and finalizing some of the warlocks.

I wish he also replied to my emails!

About a year or so ago, GB agreed to make me an all-ti Warlock. We exchanged emails and agreed the specs etc. He didn't ask for a deposit.
I never heard another thing from him, but after reading this thread, I'm glad. I wouldn't want the knife anyway, regardless of how good it might have been.
What a farce this has become (but not at all funny for those who have paid up front).

Well I wish he would communicate with others besides th OP of a GB orders thread. I got similar time tables as everyone else and no recent contact with several e-mails sent. As with many, I want the knife I ordered. A real eta would be more than appreciated. This thread is littered with missed commitments and borders on false hope.

I'm sure many of you would also like to hear from anyone who actually receives a GB knife. I know I would!

He contacted me for the refund I asked. I should have half by Wednesday next week and the other half the following week. We will see...

And did he offer any explanation as to why he missed two more promised ship dates on a knife that has been made for 4 months or so?
