Gareth bull: Slow Delivery/waitlist thread

I am proud to say that Gareth kept his word and shipped my Gem this week.

He has provided me a tracking# and has given me the website to track the # with.

I will update when it arrives :)

That's excellent news! Can't wait to see photos of the little beauty and to hear of more progress on the delivery of other knives.

That's awesome. I've been following this since it was in General. Glad to see a silver lining. Pics when it rolls in please:thumbup:

Glad a knife has shipped. Still would love a response to my multiple unanswered e-mails. Did Gareth mention anything a about the warlocks or Shamwari's?
A lot of knife pics on his facebook page. I'm sure those knives went somewhere. I wonder if those went to customers who waited more than 18 months?
A real standing and realistic time of delivery would be wonderful in absence of the actual delivery.
How long did you wait on the Gem?
Gareth, Gareth, Gareth...still no answer.

The gem didn't take too long seeing as how the knife was already made. I just wanted him to ship the knife with my warlock when it was done, but I asked for it to be shipped now because I got a little impatient and wanted to play with it :D

as for the shamwari's and warlock, I'm thinking he is working on them as he stated that he was shipping out another members shamwari when he shipped out my gem. I'm not sure if the member did received a shipping # or not but I have.

He also stated that he was extremely busy and was in his shop all day today, so hopefully that means your knives are being worked on.

Other than that Gazza also said that he wanted to get my warlock out before the 20th because of the havoc with shipping during the holidays.

I'm assuming he is working on small batches, but have asked him in my last correspondence to give some input on the thread to put everyone's minds at ease.

Only time will tell about him responding to this thread/emails, but he is making baby steps in the right direction and that's a good sign.

I plan on doing a full review with pictures :)

Hi All

I wanted to update everyone to where I am as of now and my plan moving forward.

As of today only two clients have opted for the refund - both have mentioned here. The rest of the list remains as-is.

My plan moving forward is thus:
Basically make knives all day every day and as swiftly as possible. I have all the materials I need and most of the work I can do in-house. With the Warlocks and Shamwaris the only part that is outsourced is the standoff which I have turned for me by a local engineer, sandblasting is also sent out for. Otherwise it's all me, the grinding, shaping hardening and polishing. I got the stationary this week to do the etches so I'm good to go there too.

In addition to working on orders I aim to set aside probably half an hour per day to make a Shard (my absolute simplest design) per week if possible to try "grease the wheels" - selling this should hopefully cover shipping fees/engineering costs/go towards refunds and a hundred other little costs like abrasives and such. I am attempting to finish up, today, a couple of Shards to really kick-start the whole project, then drop down to maybe one per week if I can.

I will be updating this thread daily from here on out with the emphasis on WIP pictures so that everyone can see what's going on.

I'm aiming to complete these orders this week:

Dflores
Wolf
Teague

Regards
Gazza

Hi Gareth,

It's good to hear from you. Very good.

It has been a rough road at times, but please remember that people will, largely, overlook a great deal of frustration if they receive something special in the end. Your work is superlative.

Best idea possible. That's the other thing to bear in mind as you put your shoulder to the stone: Short of receiving something outright, I think people can be surprisingly understanding if they feel informed.

Keep at it. I know everything will come right if you do.

Thanks for the update, Gazza. FWIW, I'm not sure of the differences between the Warlocks and Shamwaris any longer, nor do I care whether mine is one or the other (although I think I prefer the framelock). I'll be happy with whatever is easiest to get done and deliver :-)

Mantzao - email incoming

Daniel - The differences between the two are slight really, the Warlock is the first and most minimalist design. The Shamwari is slightly broader, has the lock protector and chamfered spine - but otherwise they're kissing cousins as far as overall looks :)

Right, quick update of work so far today. Test fitting Dflores' Warlock right now, lock is cut (and relieved just now). Ball detent lined up, blade mated to spine of the handle, I only mate the bottom of the blade (near the lock) during final fitting - you might be able to see a small piece of steel peeking out into the finger cutout. Jimping done as well so ready to be wrapped and heat treated :) Handle parts are chamfered and holes are lining up. I also leave the protective layer on the G10 till the very last moment, just in case I scuff it - plus I have grubby hands (those are the strands peeking out the G10 you see in the last pic)

These pics might be on the large side:

I know I will be happy to see those three on the list completed; that should mean I would be in the next group by all appearances from the list. It is nice to see some knives coming together. Keep up the progress!

This line here is what we were all hoping for:

Thank you Gareth, I really hope things are going well for you, and I look forward to the updates.

Exciting to see forward progress being made. Depending on how things progress and that they keep moving forward I have been very interested in purchasing a Warlock. I will be keeping a close eye on this thread.
