GEC #47 Viper

Ron, does anyone by chance call you a snake charmer?:D

Very impressive collection:thumbup:

Im starting to feel as though my much desired snakewood viper -pre ordered, missed out, then relegated to edc and not heard back about may have slithered through my grasp. The good news is i tentatively coughed up for a hemlock if they dont come through.gotta tellya I'm beginning to twitch and squirm.

hamsco - Thank you. :D

Harry - Thanks! :) here is the rest of my modest Viper collection. :D
Top row are all from 2014. The 2 in the center, Ship Deck Wood, are from the 2015 Rendezvous. The only 2 I might add! ;) And of course the bottom row are the 2016 additions.

I guess I do not know the definition of the word Modest. That is way more than my opinion of modest and Every One a Gem.
Thanks for showing them Ron.

Harry

Gundawg-that is hideous!
I hereby sentence it to transportation to New South Wales for the term of its natural life.
Sentence to carried out at Mt Keira penal colony for unruly knives.
under the strict supervision of Governor McMeako:D

You've just reminded me of the book I'm (re)reading, Papillon. ;)

WOW Ships Deck !!!!!! It looks like both ships deck are SS (from the peeking blade etch), and you have 2 acorn shields !
Is one of the acorns maroon and the other black ?

A Plethora of Riches, I must say !!!

I missed out on the snakewood :(...but it's probably just as well. I'd have had a difficult time using it, and I don't need any more knives that just sit around looking pretty.
This is my second 47

I'm loving mine. The micarta promises to make for a very durable work knife, but still looks sleek and elegant. The swayback design takes some warming up to -it feels great for pull cuts but only ok for "regular gripping," but maybe it just takes some getting used to. The wharncliffe makes for a wickedly effective opener of boxes, too. Fit and finish on my example is nearly perfect.

hamsco - Thank you. :D

Harry - Thank you for the kind words my friend. That is one of the things I love about this place, everyone sharing all these wonderful knives.:D

hamsco - The Ships Deck are both 1095. That blade etch is the GEC Practical Knives etch, which was special on these 2 Rendezvous Vipers. Actually these 2 are quite unique. The front tang stamp is the Great Eastern Stamp. The rear tang stamp is the Titusville Iron Works stamp. The bolsters and shield are Northfield. Both of the Acorn shield knives are Maroon Linen. One is serialized, mint and the other is one of my EDC Vipers, no serial number. Thank you for the compliment.:)

AL - Thank you, I appreciate that my friend.:)

Did any of you who got the green bone viper have any issues? Mine has some side to side play but my hemlock didn't have any. Just wondering if it's common?

Here's one you don't often see:
You are correct, I have never seen that handle material. And it's Great !

Once again Great Eastern Cutlery has made knives that can not be put in a pigeon hole. The more I think I know, the more they prove me wrong. Which is great fun for me.
And once again i am impressed with you wonderful collection. Well Done. I have a rope GEC rope knife made for Lone Star with Teak wood from the Barque Elissa ship. Is the wood on your #47s from that ship ?

I pulled this info mostly from the GEC website. Filled in a few gaps from posts made here and in the exchange... the date-time stamps of posts helped determine whether a couple of these were in the 1st Run or 2nd Run. (I don't trust my memory).

If you see anything on here that doesn't look correct and/or you have info to add, please sound off :)

1st Run = February 2014
2nd Run = August 2014

A GEC chart showing most, but not all, of the handle options in the 1st Run.
