GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I can agree with you on that Bob !!!

Harry

Well that makes 2 of us that agree to that! :D Looking good Harry, Bob and Al. I do not believe the black will wear off of the 1st run knives, clip or sheeps foot blade models, that is. The 2nd run with the spear blades are the ones that I have noticed the black wearing off on.

Okay, this is a photo taken today. I had gotten so much dried apple juice and such in the joint I had to spend around an hour or so with the Mineral oil to get the action back to top notch! A small price to pay for the privilege of being able to carry such a fine pocket knife. ;) I know there are several here that will agree with me on that! :D:D

Ron, your barlow is coming along great! I really hope we see that clip on the next run. And dare I say with a long pull match strike...

Wow, what a beautiful blade! My new grail in GECs line up! I have been scouring the knife exchange and instagram for a chance to snag one up. Hell, it doesn't even need to be a clip. Seems to be drying up on the secondary market? Idk I'm new to the GECs.

Merry Mad Monk and Half Stop or Al and Ron : My latest update.

The patina is coming along as much as I choose to make it , but the Black is not wearing off much at all yet.
I am starting to like this knife a lot.

Harry
Drool! I gotta find one! Beautiful blade and great patina!

Harry, Ron, Bob, SadSappySucker, arizonaranchman ... great pics! It's fun seeing the updates!

That's a beauty H/S!

I oil my joints about every other month.

Thanks. :) I will have to admit I normally do the same, about 2 months is as long as I go on the joints. I had been eating a lot of apples and I left this Northfield in the drawer for 3 days or so and it gummed up.

Thanks tmd. :) These 77's are becoming quite coveted by us that have them. :D

Thanks TMD87 : The Patina is a result of cutting Apples and Rhubarb . The Rhubarb will really do it. And now we are doing radishes too.
Good luck on finding one !!! This is my first 77 Barlow and there have been some others since .

Haven't checked in for a while, but thought I would share some pictures of my go-to 77. Busy season with radishes, lettuce and strawberries already. This knife is just a perfectly balanced, useful tool. Easy on the eyes, too.

The micarta 77s really came out great!(but then again they all did)
The satin bolsters really turned out nice too.

So I have been curious as to why the different runs of sawcut red bone age differently? Was it the strength of the dye, batch of bone, or...?
I'm also surprised we don't see more of the smooth autumn gold bone around. I hope they aren't all stored up in safes around the world. The 2 blade run really turned out phenomenal, and I hope the folks at GEC can find a way to mimick the depth and variation again.

Sorry Erik , but my Smooth Autmn Golds are stored in safes !!!!!! They will not be for sale !!!!

Harry

Haha! Part of me can't blame you. I'm just shocked that for the most part I haven't seen a single smooth autumn user.

Erik : You can see some pictures of my Smooth Autumn Gold on my post in middle of May of 2015 : Post #1117
