GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I don't mean to steal someone's pic if they are on BF. but found this in Google images (I've been told this image belongs to Primble... superb shot!).

This is my dream knife (anyone have one they'd give up???)... so, Mike, I'd love to see this one again. Just a perfect execution and blade combo IMHO.

i second this motion.

That's more then likely one of Rob's (Primble on BF) images. The guys knows how to take a picture!

That is a good one. I'd be in for a rerun.

Thats a picture from Primble. Its the same image that got me into traditional knives. I was lucky enough to own one of those beautiful knives for a while myself. Had to part ways with it just a few weeks ago. I believe only 48 of them were made. IF you can get your hands on one hang on to it!

...and he's consistent in quality and content. No matter where I might be on the internet I can spot his wonderful pictures.

I had one of these and sold it to fund another purchase. Big mistake. It was heavy though and I find myself preferring a smaller secondary for size and weight considerations .... still if I had a chance again I wouldn't have sold it.

Same with me. I had one and sold it, being a bit too big for my taste. I also have a Case Bose warncliffe trapper in that same configuration, which I think did influence my decision that it was redundant.

Having the more pocketable Queen Burke Barlow with the smaller warncliffe sencondary was another consideration.

Well, If I can ever find one, I intend to hang on to it. I have many sweet 77s and that is one I hope to find at some point... and I'm quite sure it will cost me an arm and a leg when I do. Oh well.

I saw this pic on Google images and I went weak in the knees. Haha. Well, maybe not weak in the knees, but it was so impressive that it became my laptop wallpaper. Superb pic of a superb knife. As for you parting ways with yours, it happens to all of us. I have a couple knife regrets in my past, too, as most knife knuts do.

I hope you find one. The guy that I sold mine to said it was his grail, I'm pretty sure I let it go below market. I haven't seen him around here in awhile, but I'm hoping he still has it and it is still his grail.

Wow, lots of great suggestions here (maybe besides the tanto flipper). I'm just excited at the prospect of a two blade version this year. There aren't many blades that I wouldn't be interested in, although maybe let's stay away from that Calf Pen combo. Yikes. The clip/wharnie would be great, but if I got to choose, I'd go with a 772217 - spear main and coping secondary like a Eureka Jack. That in sawcut bone would be just about perfect.

Several blades styles, would be fine with me. I don't have 77 Barlow, so almost any blade would be a plus. Having said that, I am kind of sheepfooted out too. Steel liners would be very important on stag especially.

I had a poll on facebook and the sheepfoot came in behind a "tanto flipper" model. It was my first inclination as well - but you are in a lonely room right now....

I was a bit disappointed there wasn't a poll on BF for the 2017 barlow blade configuration... now I see why -
