GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I love the rounded ends on the 77 scales. I know some TC Barlow owners have done the same thing to their Charlows to make them melt in the hand a little better. My box from Mike is supposed to be delivered today...I keep refreshing the tracking page to no avail  Life is hard!

I love the NS over regular brass, but I'd love steel bolsters and liners most of all :) I'll just cross my fingers for a next run of 77s with all steel and long-pull spearpoints. I'll keep throwing money at these Barlows indefinitely it seems. And happy to do so!

Man, these look good...loving these photos! Wish I had been in the know soon enough to secure a sheepsfoot, but the clip is no slouch!

With the ends butted up against a straight-edge here's the overall length between the TC Barlow and 77 Barlow... About 3/8"

OK now this pic ^^ does not reflect blade length differences, it reflects only the overall length of the two knives from the butt end of the scales to tip of the blade.

This is a beauty. Way to go GEC and Mike.

How did I miss the smooth autumn as an option? I don't remember them coming up on the pre- order! My haul arrives tomorrow, should have been today but USPS sorted the mail wrong:mad:

The autumn golds were not on the pre-order, it is my understanding that they came about late as a way to use up the extra parts left from the run. Not sure on numbers but they went quick when they hit the site.

Good to see all these pictures. I started sinking Sunday afternoon and just now feel like I am going to survive the flu. Had a lot of help from the family on shrink wrapping these so don't judge us too harshly ;>

dang well maybe I can make a trade with someone for one.

Came home today to find these in my mail box. Lucky enough to score an autumn bone one. Loving the wharnie. Am I the first to post a wharncliffe blade?

Excellent job Mike! Praying you are feeling better soon. i too had the creeping crud week before last.
Here's a better shot of my new knife outdoors, in the frozen tundra!

My four that arrived just now. The stag on the clip has a great yellow/tan in it and the way it finished out in the smooth section almost gives it a mammoth ivory type look. Very pleased with the fit, finish and how all these wonderful barlow's turned out!

I do like the sawcut, but this autumn gold smooth bone has the most gorgeous, slender, radiused covers I've seen.
The grinds, the long pull and the swedges are just magical as well. A show stopper, for sure.

When I posted earlier that I got mine I wanted to say how I liked the rounded off butt end, however, I didn't say that because I did not know the correct term in slip joint speak. Pivot end I knew, but what is the correct term for the other end? Of course some knives have pivot end on both ends.
And while we are at it, what is correct term for channel that the blade fold into? I seem to recall someone once called the trough but I don't know if that is accurate.

Slip Joint Speak - so much to learn :D
