GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Both blade and handle are developing a patina. The smooth white parts of the stag are turning more gray. Despite daily use, blade pull remains a firm and snappy 8/10. The 1095 is easy to keep sharp. After weeks of daily carry, I have only positive impressions. The Northfield Barlow is great addition to my collection!

Scott that's one nice example of a stag 77. I may have to find one someday. Is the cup your sharpener?

I've had my 77 with Blackwood handles & a Clip blade for a few weeks now. I like it even more as time goes by. It is an exceptionally well made knife. I have maybe 40 GEC made knives and i think this 77 is possibly The Best for fit & finish.
What i see as it's finest 'detail' is how slim the handle slabs are and how they are perfectly radiused to the liners. This knife is as well hafted as my vintage Jos. Rodgers (Sheffield) folders and the in-hand feel is simply Perfect.
Thank you again Mike. These # 77's are a great addition to the knife world.

My sentiments exactly!! :D

Recently got this big mug from Red Wing pottery. I think that's in Minnesota. The bottom is completely flat and unglazed. Gets a blade screamin' sharp in no time!

Some gorgeous stag on these 77's...

Yeah, it's on the eastern border of Minnesota below the Twin Cities. My sister lives just across the river in Wisconsin. (Well, not just across - she's 20 miles away. But Red Wing is the largest city near her. Her town is so small you could barely play football within the town borders.)

I just picked this up at the Eugene Show. Awkward question... Is this a 77 (because I don't know my patterns)?

Yessir! That´s a #77 Northfield Barlow. Great looking knife, BTW. Congratz on getting such a beautiful example. :)

Thanks!

There was a boatload of TCs. People were buying up a ton, heh. I was basically looking for the combo above with the same blade or a wharny, but there were none, but this little fella was untouched. There was a nice red saw cut bone but I wasn't big on the blade.

Was such a fun show. Got to actually talk to the GEC folks. Fun fun times.

Performed another body sculpting today. If Paul H is the CEO of EO's, maybe I can be his VP? :D
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. I'll take some better ones in the light of day.

I don't think I ever posted a picture of my 77 barlow. Here he is posing with his cousin.
