GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Also just paid. Got a 1b AB and 2b red bone. I'm so darn excited!!! These look so nice, now kicking myself for not going for an autumn bone.

I must say that 2-blade in Smooth Autumn Gold looks exceptional. I wasn't sure quite how the coping blade would turn out but that looks perfect. Nice and long, looks very usable. I have never really had anything in mind as a "grail knife" but this one may end up being that.

I am glad I took the leap of faith and reserved one a while back. Paid for and waiting now. This will be my first GEC Barlow pattern.

You won't be disappointed. These 77 Barlows are just outstanding.

Enjoying this one:

Sent payment for my 2 blade red sawcut today. I was excited to see that the picture on Mike's site shows the pins all being domed. It's one of the factors that made me go with those covers. The clip 77 I had in red sawcut had beautifully domed pins instead of the usual sunken pins that GEC puts out. I don't know why, but sunken pins bug me. I have very high hopes for this run. It's as close to an exact match for my list of wants as anybody's made since I started buying knives. It's going to be a long five days...

Same here, I'm VERY excited about this particular one: the deep red saw-cut bone, long-pull spear (a thin, not the broad/wide spear style), coping (YES!) behind the main, iron bolsters as the originals were... this is quite possibly Barlow nirvana! :D

I haven't really been buying knives anymore for quite some time (I'm carrying what I have and enjoying them), but THIS one I just couldn't let pass by. This one is simply magnificent as I already know from my current single sheepfoot #77 from the beginning of the year. I've never had a two-blade Barlow, so this will be my first and this blade combo is just PERFECT to boot. All my prior Barlows have been single blade.

I wonder if anyone has gotten their invoice for the stag 2B 77s? I'm on vacation with marginal access but I wouldn't want to miss the release...

I've been carrying this one a lot myself, almost every day, but hardly any patina at all has shown up, just a little where my fingers grasp the blade to open the knife. I've noticed that with other GEC's as well. Must be a body chemistry thing.

Hard to beat the anticipation of a new Barlow arrival! I have a smooth Autumn gold and micarta single on the way. Would love to see a spey blade on the next run.

I wish I could have afforded more, but the Beer Scouts and Mud Bugs kind of wiped me out. I have a 2B canvas micarta on order, as well as a 2B stag for my father-in-law. I'd order 5 of the canvas micarta if I could.

Went out for a run this morning and took this one with me. Can't wait for the two that are coming my way!

Holy popcorn stag Batman! AHHHH I already bought two barlows, but these stags look amazing! I just might have to search the house to sell some stuff or walk the ditches for pop cans, lol. If these were in a pinchable clip blade, I think I would have sold a vehicle, lol! Seriously though Mike I don't know where you source your stag but it's great. Make sure you give them a Christmas ham or something this year.
