GEC Conductor

"Copperhead jig bone" which looks like peach seed and wormgroove.

Very nice Jake!! If anyone is looking for a Northfield-like conductor but in 440c, the Dog Pawz are it.

conductor is pattern that has teased me ever since the release. I do love that copper jigged bone but I do not like bails. Ebony is classic but I am tempted also stainless version with american elk handles. Oh the choices, the choices the choices... Great looking pattern which is very pocket friendly.

I still like mine the best, eh !

Roland, you'll get no argument from me! That Elephant Ivory Conductor of yours is a knockout. Now put paws on the blade and that dog paw shield, and I'd be the first in line!

Received yesterday my first GEC Conductor in golden rod micarda. Great knife!!

Chris D. :D

Jake....

The Dog Paws Conductor looks great with that jigged bone combination

See, it's not just me. Everyone probably likes the Conductor they received the best. The knife really captures it's new owner regardless of how it's 'dressed'. GEC Home Run for sure. I bet there are more home runs coming.

Absolutely! The faux tortoise Conductor I have IS the best in the world!!:D I'd fancy a White Bone, 2nd Cut jigged stag, or that Red Apple... Fact is, all the Conductors are knives to prize (not prise...) and the White Owl looks like it could be its bigger stablemate.

No, no William ..... MY natural bone Conductor in the OP is the best in the world! :D ;) I do think Roland nailed it when he said everyone likes theirs best, judging from the many comments & pics on this thread. I carry my jigged apple red bone during the week, and the natural bone on Sundays.

This pattern has surprised me, in that I wasn't even sure I would like it when I first ordered it. I had a couple pen knives before but never carried them much. I preferred the jack pattern with both blades opening on the same end. I'm not sure what changed (or what changed me), but I've really adapted to this pen knife configuration.

One other thing I like is the nail nicks on my Tidioute's. Nice, deep and "undercut" a little so my thumbnail gets a really good bite when opening. It never slips out like it sometimes does on other non-GEC knives.

I'm surprised at the "legs" this thread has ..... figured I'd get a few responses, maybe a page worth, but I didn't realize how popular this pattern has become. I guess they've actually had two runs of the Conductor, so that probably explains a lot. They had the initial run, and then (for me anyway) they seemed to hit a dry spell (think boot knife, and some other patterns that didn't trip my trigger). Anyway, then they came out with another run with some of the knives shown here lately. About that time I was debating what my fourth Conductor should be, and almost ready to pull the trigger on a Buffalo Horn, and then the White Owl shows up! ;)

I would like a matching pair of Conductor and White Owl in that crazy kryptonite. Or, at least, Conductors offered in some of GECs awesome acrylic.

Another very valid observation Keith. This is important and other manufacturers often mess up a good knife with weakly executed/ill struck nicks. In the White Owl thread, some people expressed concern about the nick on the Spear version. Obviously, I don't know, yet, but it looks like the nick on the 56 Tidioute Spear I have, and this offers optimum opening.

This Conductor pattern continues to delight, I think only people with enormous hands would find them less than satisfying.

I think for most of us, an appreciation of Pen knives for their exacting fit and slender width, comes after some years of familiarizing ourselves with knives in general. This #33 is helping to revive the once very popular Pen knife.
I collect vintage 4 blade Senators. These were high end knives, close to the most expensive folders available pre WW I.
The very finest came from Sheffield, most especially the Jos. Rodgers pearl hafted ones. There are also many excellent U.S.A. and German examples.
The well of these knives is entirely filled up by the 4 blades, thinly ground and with distinct clean swages (correct spelling according to BRL), yet there is no blade rub and action is still smooth and crisp with half stops on all blades. Very sharp blades.
I wonder if GEC might take up the challenge of a 4 blade Senator approaching the standards of 100 years ago ?

Do you think we might see something like this coming from GEC before too long ?

The blades are right packed in there, eh ?
