GEC Radio Knife

I have yet to take the plunge on a TC Barlow even though I have several of the 15s. I have to say the cap lifter on a Charlow would push me over the edge. Huzzah!

This one is part of the run!!

That is - one very like it!!

Okay, that would do.

Understatement.

I've carried my ebony Radio Knife every day for the past couple weeks, and its screwdriver is pressed into service often.

I can't wait to see Diamond editions.

Just to clarify a bit:
There will be three different knives in my run of SFOs.

1) A Diamond Radio (Spear and Caplifter/screwdriver)
2)A Harness Jack with a Spear and a Punch (new punch design)
3)A TC Barlow (half with pen blades, all with Spears!)

[I am not putting the "Radio Blade" in the Barlow, although
SOMEONE:rolleyes: at GEC thinks I should, and call it the Bar-room-Barlow! Sheesh!:barf:]

Good grief! I'm in, mark me down. I'm down! One of each please.

I cannot testify to the use of the main blade on the original Radio, but I can give great testament to the quality of the cap lifter. I've tried my best to wear it out without success. But I'm no quitter...

I'll admit when I first got my Radio Knife I wasn't sure how much I'd carry it. It's bigger than the slipjoints I usually carry - Case Peanut, Medium Jack, GEC Pemberton, and Victorinox Lumberjack. That said, the fit & finish on the knife is superb and it's just so nice to look at. The jigged antique yellow bone looks outstanding and feels good in-hand. One thing that has really impressed me is how well the geometry of the blade cuts. My Case Peanut is sharper, but something about the geometry of the blade on the Radio Knife makes it an outstanding slicer. It's gone on a Scout trip or two, but so far the only thing seeing heavy use has been the caplifter ;)

It's a keeper.

I think that GEC has been working on their blade grinding.
Many of you may have noticed that SAKs have an almost magical slicing quality, with their thin grinds. These things do not go un-noticed when a dedicated knifemaker is seeking good quality!
All the #15 pattern variations are good slicers and cutters, IMO.
I have 6 different ones I am currently using. I am partial to the Spear and the Sheepfoot variations, but the clip on my Tidioute Radio is very good also.
The Spey is still the best "spreader" though!!
Here's a pic, with my Red Radio center left.

I feel like I have been inspected, sliced and diced!!

:D

Somebody around here captured a drawing. Maybe it will appear here!?

I carry my Radio everyday. I try to also carry a Charlow every once in a while but the Radio gets more use. It's the screwdriver...if it had a Philips it would never leave my side. Or maybe since it is a "Radio" knife you could add a wire stripper to the screwdriver blade? It's really just a notch below the cap lifter. I know it would come in handy to me.
