GEC Radio Knife

What's everyone's thoughts on this one? I like a knife with a bottle opener. Of course I like bottled beers and cokes. I might need one of these.

I'm excited for it and order two in jigged bone. A while back, I even asked for a 15 pattern with cap lifter in the "let's talk about GEC thread." I wish they had kept the long pulls on the clip blade and would have really liked an easy open spear with cap lifter #15, but I think this one will do. :D

On the flip side, I'm not really digging the blade etch, but that's nothing a few limes for my bottled beverage can't fix.

The #15 pattern is very versatile and addictive.

I was looking through, and when I posted , I thought I was posting on the first page -DOH! I see the first two pages explaining the Radio Knife.
My apologies.

Just got my ship notice from Mike today. The Antique Yellow won out again. I'm liking this pattern, but as someone had mentioned earlier, a EZ open sheepsfoot with the caplifter would have been stellar! At least now I will have a 15 with a clip though.

I've always thought of this Utica Kutmaster as a "half-scout", but it fits the Radio Knife genera too. OH

Exactly. I've just been admiring it in the Sunday thread. Very nice OH

Thanks Jack, I've had this one for awhile and never really knew how it was properly categorized; for my use it has the two most useful tools from a Boy Scout knife. OH

Say the bottle opener wears out over time/use, would there be a way to fix it? How long/how much use would it take to wear down?
I think the opener will outlast your liver, maybe thousands of beers. I like that radio knife.

My feelings too :)

Please excuse my lack of knowledge here folks, just what is with the Radio theme - is it to capture the yesteryear of actually working on the old Valve radios? - sorry if I sound sill asking this,
I usually like the etches on GECs knives, but I could take or leave this one, which wouldn't stop me buying the knife if it had the etch on it - it's just that I usually really LIKE the etches.

I'd say that's part of it. Many on here aren't old enough to recall tube (valve) radios. I recall vividly waiting on ours to warm up. We fail to realize what an important part of life radio was during the 30's, 40's, and early 50's.

I'm too young, but I play guitar and have built a few "valve" amps. I'd also love to get an old tube stereo. I had done a checkup on a friend's McIntosh..... that thing was sweet. I've had to settle on a solid state Marantz. ;)

To young??? I'm 39 and have a lot of tube radios....and a couple of boxes full of tubes...and a tube tester... And a tube amp...
