GEC Radio Knife

Hi Folks,

Got my yellow one last night (thanks, Mike, for the quick shipping). I wanted an ebony but dragged my feet and as you know they all seem to be sold. Anyway, "settled" for the yellow model.

This is truly a nice knife and I don't regret getting the yellow. Everything fits as it should. The pull is the best of the 15 or so GEC knives I've bought. I really don't know how to apply a number rating, but it's "easy" to open compared to the others I've bought. The main blade nail nic(k) is easy to get to. And, this baby is sharp. Really sharp.

The cap lifter/bottle opener.... Well, I'm not what you'd call a beer drinker. I buy a 6/12 pack from time to time and they last months. In anticipation of my new knife arriving, yes, I bought 12 bottled beers. Yes, the cap lifter works as it should.

For those of you who may be on the fence about buying one, I don't think you'd regret it.

Regards,

George

The ebony models are not sold out; some are still in transit to dealers.

The jigging on the bone handles looks great. I don't know if I'm disappointed that I ordered the ebony or not yet. I just ordered it last night but I'm sure it will be great when it gets here

The ebony are just now being shipped from the factory. Mine were just spoken for so fast when I put them on the pre-order (between Early Reserve and Early Bird buyers) that the website automatically took them off. But the two bones turned out fantastic on this series. I have a few more rust red coming and possibly a couple antique yellow. The dealers that do not have a pre-order or Early Bird system may have them show up this weekend.

I really like the look of the Radio Knife. The bone jigging on these looks very traditional. I hope I can pick up one of the antique yellows!

I ordered the Rust Red but after looking at pictures I think I prefer the antique yellow....but still a great knife!

Got my yellow handled one last night and it's in my pocket today. I gotta say, it could give my Forum knife 85 a run for the money... GEC just seems to be getting better and better. Mine is pretty darn near perfect in every way. :) What a versatile pattern that 15, it needs it's own thread!

Glad to hear you like your new knife-- always a great feeling. :)

As for threads, not too long ago there seemed to be 3-5 Boys Knife threads on the first page for weeks at a time; t'was a lit-tle much.

Here's one that starts at the beginning, is fairly content-rich, and could maybe use a bump in light of the onrush of new blade selections on this frame:

GEC Huckleberry Boys Knife

(As of this writing, it's "current" up to and through the Scout release with the sheepsfoot blade.)

Ahhh... you're so right Ms P! I was really thinking of one thread to 'rule them all' with Charlows and STR EK's and Boy's Knives (oh my!). But I suppose we could breathe new life in the GEC Boys Knife thread :)

I'm spending way too much on knives these days but I had to snag another one of these so I have a ebony on the way and the antique yellow bone due to arrive anytime!

The Gabon Ebony is a class act. I'm sure you'll be a happy chap:)

Gabon Rocks! I did not believe you, so I checked, and you are correct. Here is a photo I lifted off this site, you all would make me happy if you would post photos of your knives...
