GEC Rendezvous 2022

Well, I'd rather be going to Pa. but I am in the Atlanta area so I think the Blade show this weekend will have to do. I probably won't be buying any GEC's at scalper prices, but may find a custom or 2 if I'm lucky. 60 mile round trip, admission and lunch if not for a day trip isn't too bad. I'll get to see some of the makers and dealers I know too.

I went in 2019 for the first time (and only time so far). Really enjoyed it and was glad I made the trek, especially when Covid popped up and they canceled 2020. It's over 9 hours each way for me, so I probably won't make it back until I retire in few years. The drive really beat me up, I must be getting old! But it was great to tour the factory, talk to Bill Howard, and the people there were just great. Like a trip to the past, not like the nutty America on the news. I brouight a copy of the GEC book by David Anthony I had read and I asked Bill Howard to sign it, that was pretty cool. He is very down to earth, and that's a hectic time for him for sure.

man that does not bode well. there's been no internet the last few days due to some outage or equipment failure, and I havent been able to update my new gps i bought for the trip.

Once again I wish I could be there, but wont make it. Some of the SFA knives available there are really special, and I would love to meet the people and tour the factory. Ah well. Those of you lucky to be able to go, please post some picture for us.

Travman Travman 's pic. I'm not there. But here is the rendezvous knife.

I stopped by for a bit and chatted with quite a few. I didn't have the ambition to stand out all night long to get a knife, so when I showed up at 7am I would have been about 60th in line to get into the store. After visiting with folks I knew, I headed back for home around 9:30, and they were only up to #40 in line to go in. There were 4-5 guys set up with tables of knives for sale under one of the tents. Once the sun came out the fog lifted and the temperature warmed up pretty quick. I'm lucky that it is a close drive for me, I didn't even need to take the day off work!
