Dave
See!! I'm good for something.....even if it's just gettin in the way.........
Charlie- my mind has traveled there with that very thought.
I don't think that the knife has anything else done other than been cleaned - and done well I must say.- but in saying this - it's been cleaned!
I'm going to look at that etch again- although I don't need to but just to underline what I have seen - and then I may do just that and carefully remove the etch - because it's just not THE original. That will leave me with a cleaned knife I'm thinking at this stage.
I won't of course remove the Etch unless 100% sure.
philllll - you have a DE catalog my friend ? can you find this knife there at all? Possibly source the knife with the 1066 behind the Main ?
Thank you all for the comments - basically everything you guys have said is what I am thinking - great stuff!
Here are two more knives from the Rendezvous. After some wranglin' and danglin', wheelin' and dealin' and huffin' and puffin', Lyle graciously allowed me to trade these away from him!!
A 3 3/4" Stag 4blade by Joseph Rodgers, and a G. Ibberson Sowbelly with SS-74 stamped in the liner, and pre-ban handles!

Heya Philllll- Where ya been man!!!!!!!!Duncan, sorry for the delay my friend. I have a catalog, but it's from 1929. Your knife looks more recent than that. Very nice looking knife though, fake or not. I have a couple different ones that have a similar "look" to them that I haven't been able to pin down the origin or authenticity. I will try to get some pics soon.
Heya Philllll- Where ya been man!!!!!!!!
No problems- Im going to take off the etch- returning the otherwise great knife back to its pre-etched glory -in a way a shame to loose the etch- but it was placed there after the fact- so it needs to come off- then I will respect the Knife for what it is-cleaned - but a darned nice one!
thank you my friend.
