GRAYMAN SATU Folder!! A BEAST!!!

Thats like comparing a humvee with a .50 cal on it to an M1A2 Abrams tank. The humvee is a great vehicle and the .50 cal round is wicked but I would feel much more comfortable in an Abrams tank! Save money? How about lives and time. I recently got an email from a spec ops guy in afghan and he said whenever someone needed a knife they kept asking for his Satu. And they all had knives of their own, just not the Abrams tank! (oops i mean the Satu)

How do you happen to be in contact with so many SOF and other deployed military personnel?

I ve had a few guys that have been following my Grayman posts for some time now that email me. They do not post on here bc they wish to remain anonymous, which of course I am going to honor that. I wish they would post on here! Apparently Grayman knives have become pretty popular with the trigger pullers. They must be decent knives?

I wouldn't take use of a knife by servicemen to be an indication of how good it is, you'll see Gerbers and Cold Steel too so it tends to be an easily defeated argument. However, I agree 100% that Grayman knives are phenomenal.

And we need more pictures in this thread:

Awesome thanks for the pics! Yes we do need more pics! I need a new camera! Especially cuz I just got my Mega Pounder 6 today! Maybe i didnt quite word that the way I wanted to that they must be great knives bc military guys are using them. I think I had a recent email in my head where a spec ops soldier told me how all the guys in his unit always kept borrowing his Grayman instead of using their "Gerbers and Cold Steels". Hammer please share about those fixed blades!! Wow!

Not to get the thread off track but they are all Grayman Sub-Saharan's, the uncoated blade is Titanium. I have reviews on the forum you can easily find.

And its significantly different from the Buck/Strider 880

How about some links?? :D

Heads up. New Grayman folders up for sale on the site. Dua's and Satu's. Just placed my order for the Carbon Fiber/Beadblast

Just pulled the trigger on a Satu in green G-10. I figured I'd check it out the regular version of this beast before I start pestering Grayman for a non-recurve version. If I don't like it -- or, more accurately, if the recurve is a deal-breaker since I'm pretty much guaranteed to love a big titanium framelock like this one -- I can always just let it go on the Exchange.

striderco sent me his satu, black coated dua and the dua i sharpened for him a while back (which was still amazingly sharp except for a 1/4" spot on the belly that had a slight shine to the edge) now all 3 are shaving sharp and ready for some more abuse :D.

both the satu and his old dua have a v edge but i put one of my convex edes on his coated dua and its wicked. cjpgeyer was over and he checked them out before and after. he likes the "after" results better.

I just saw Grayman knives for the first time last week and fully admit that I am very impressed with their knives from what I have seen

Yeah cant wait to get them back from the Richard J Spa!! They got the full body treatment! His edges kick ass!! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my knives!! RJ is the man!! Spoke with Sue Grayman today actually and she had this to say "The latest news: We've had so many requests for a smooth edge on the Dua that Mike made a smooth convex edge the standard now, with "toothy" available on request. The people have spoken." :D idk im still up in the air on his toothy edge! It did perform well during my test and I like its originality! I might have to order one seeing that Richard had sharpened both of my Duas! When you have a Grayman in your hand you know you are holding a well built tool that will not fail at what ist meant to do!! If you don't own a Grayman, get one already. Oops this is my Satu thread?

Well did you get it back yet? Which edge do you like better before or after? Also which edge would hold up better for heavy use?

I liked the original toothy edge but would imagine it would be more difficult to resharpen than your traditional edge. Richard J's edges are just SICK!! If you think you have a sharp knife you dont. That is unless you have sent it to Richard. This guy is a sharpening wizard! The edge he put on my black Dua is just crazy sharp!! I think in the long haul the traditional edge is the way to go! If it dulls at all you could easily touch it up!!

Recieved my Satu in the mail Thursday. WOW..what a knife. I thought my ZT301 was big. This knife is a beast. It looks like it will cut anything just sitting still. lol. I can't say enough about Graymans customer service..I will buy from them again. They are great people and true to their word.

Awesome which one did you get the coated or uncoated one? Pics man or it did'nt happen.:D I'm also waiting on one of these beast.

The Satu makes all other folders seem, well small. If you ever need them sharpened or would like a nice edge on them send them to Richard J for a Spa treatment!!
