Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Half/Stop Half/Stop & OLd_gUY OLd_gUY - the Senator is my favorite pattern lamb foot and you guys have some real nice ones

Ray
Thank you for the kind words Ray! :)

I'm really looking forward to seeing Duncan again Ron, such a lovely guy :) I got the date of his visit wrong though, he's actually coming the week after! That's a beauty my friend :)
Duncan is a great guy! So easy to meet and talk with it’s almost like you’ve actually known him for much longer! Three days to visit at the Rendezvous were not enough! Pam and I hope to see him and Paul and all the gang again at the 2020 OKCA Show in Eugene next year! :D

I always enjoy the "I carry a lambsfoot ..." posts, Dwight, and this is a good one!
Thank you GT.

Fodderwing Fodderwing Another great in that beautiful tree image, Dwight
Thank you Harvey.

I do love sunrise and sunsets and see many of them as Dutch gets me up early! You guys have some wonderful photos of them.
Did some weeding earlier, before I started up the mower...just in case any of my neighbors were sleeping in. I'm about half way done with the mowing, Rosie road with me and kept me company...Dutch had to stay in the house and watch out the window. I did take a break and throw bumpers for him:thumbsup:
Rosie did not ride there, she was in the safety of my pocket...

Thanks Harvey, don't know what case, for what, you are talking about...I have a LifeProof for my iPhone and it's been real good, waterproof and tolerant of the drops I've had with it some from say waist high onto concrete.

PM me if you need anything while your here, I'm southeast of the metro area by about thirty miles.

You can't forget that one!!!
Beautiful place Preston!

Excellent photo Dwight
Thank you Jack.

I've lurked here for a long time, but have really enjoyed the knowledge about the lambsfoot. After I bought an A Wright lamb a few months back (my first), I knew it was going to be a favorite pattern. Inspired by the knowledge thrown around on this thread, I just included mine as a freebie to a friend who was buying a modern knife from me for camping with his young children. Thought folks here would like to know the goodwill I've seen on the porch is being passed along (to a non forum member). So, no picture to share because my (former) lamb is in the mail to hopefully warm someone else to the pattern!

Now the search for a new lamb begins. oh joy. Maybe I'll even luck out and get one of Charlie's SFOs (I won't hold my breath!).

Cheers all.

Jeff
Very generous of you Jeff and I hope that you get one of Charlie's SFOs my friend .

My three A. Wright and Son Lambsfoot came in today. Pics tomorrow hopefully. Two questions for fellow Guardians. The lefty one in buffalo is a beast to open, will this loosen up a bit over time, and is there any way to hurry the process along? My stag knife is not centered very well at all, it's not rubbing, but pretty darn close, any suggestions? The lemon/lime jigged bone is the best of the three. Photos and touching up the edges for tomorrow...BTW where do I snag the Guardians banner to add to my signature?

My snakewood is a beast as well but thankfully there's a monster nail nick that my thumb gets a significant purchase.
I ran a ton of Remoil spray though it due to excessive assembly debris, lubed with graphite and worked the blade open-closed for at least 3 days incessantly.
It's marginally better.
I leave it half open all the time and that seems to be weakening the spring a bit, just a little easier to open now.
My blade was pretty thick/obtuse and did a guided sharpening at 18-19-20 degrees per side for a nice little convex and also to take a bit of material off the edge that was making a tiny bit of contact with the back spring and leaving a chip.
Got it just about where I want it now....

Jack, thank you, you give so much of your time for the Guardians. Both in responding to this thread with comments, information, knowledge and providing us the opportunities to acquire new, special Lambsfoot knives. You always go above and beyond for the Guardians!

Thank you for the kind words Preston :)

Thanks for your kinds words about my Ironwood Lamb. The wolf image surely does make it special, which is why I don't carry it or use it as much as I'd like to. I'm happy you are enjoying the pictures of it.

Looking good José, sometimes I wish my ironwood was just stripes. then I change my mind. o_O

Before these knives were made, I had no idea just how much different character there was in Desert Ironwood :) Skol is pretty incredible John, I think it would have been near impossible to produce covers like that by design :)

Absolutely Ron, I spent a very happy day with him and Sue in Sheffield a few years back, and it has really stayed with me, I can't tell you how often I think about it :) I'm really looking forward to seeing him in a couple of weeks :)

Those are fantastic pics Vince, looks like you had a great day :) I bet these Lambsfoot knives never thought they'd be seeing so much of the world! :D ;)

Thank you Jack.

Glad they made it Steve. Regarding the blade alignment, that is a shame. I have also had off-centre blades in the past, I think are small percentage of Wright's standard production knives are like that. It's worth remembering that they are fairly inexpensive factory-made knives, and I can live with an off-centre blade, as long as it's not rubbing on the liner. However, it is not something I like at all, and so on the Guardians knives, I specify that all the blades have to be centered. Looking forward to seeing your pics :)

Many thanks for that helpful post Harvey :)

I like a stiff pull, and the general consensus among the Guardians seems to be the same, but I do think that, in a few cases, the blades on Wright's knives can be overly stiff to open. I have brought this to their attention, but they tend to be a bit unreceptive to criticism unfortunately, particularly on issues they get few complaints about. I can only really ask them to address issues that relate to the knives they make for ME, and so far they have done an excellent job. The quality of their standard range has improved a lot over the past five years, but I do think there are still issues they could address. There's only so much I can do I'm afraid, I only buy a few knives from their standard range, preferring to pay a little more for a better quality product. For those who struggle with a firm pull, I think it's worth noting that, in general, the larger blades are easier to open, and the Candle-end (straight) frames allow the blade to be pinched more easily than the blades on the Swayback frame. Having said that, I have mild arthritis myself, and I don't think my fingers are particularly strong anymore, but I think I can pinch the blade open on all my Lambsfoot knives

Morning Guardians, hope everyone has had a good week :) I'm still struggling with my internet connection I'm afraid, and this is likely to continue for at least a couple of weeks I'm afraid o_O Oh, to live in a First World country  At least it's Friday eh ;) Have a good day folks

We owe them all to you, Jack.
I've had people ask me how they got the wolf head design in there, like it was done on purpose.

Cool picture. It looks like the knife is making everything glow around it.
