Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I stayed with some friends once in Oceanside, Cal., in a house with no air conditioning in July. Didn't need it, though. Slept with the windows open. Great climate.
Yes, it's nice down there. But up here where Taylor and I live, it gets darn hot in the Summer. The 49ers used to hold camp in Rocklin (next town over), but it was just too hot for them and they had to move it.

Not withstanding @Barman1 valid criticism regarding the stiffness of pull, and I could be wrong, but I consider these working knives, hence the need for more stiffness than your typical pocket knife. By it’s original designated purpose it was often used on a relatively uncooperative subject, the lamb. Now I wouldn’t want a lambsfoot that was excessively stiff, but a little stiffness keeps it as a safer working knife. My solution is simply to be a regularly contributing Guardian and to be on your mailing list.:)

Always a treat to see your lovely gentleman’s Lambfoot.

Fodderwing Fodderwing Apparently your amazing Dami Lamb isn’t afraid of heights.:)

Good Morning Guardians.

Another Lambsfoot from the past.

Love that old warhorse lamb Harvey. I assume that's horn?

My friend Harry made the statement that he only carries Stag on days that end with a Y. ;) So here you go, my FridaY carry! :D

Very quotable Ron! :D That's a gorgeous AC

Are you sure that all that smoke isn't from Cheech & Chong moving next door ? ;)
I hope it clears out soon, Dave.

Happy Friday, Guardians!

LOL! Cool pic Kevin :D

Thanks Jack. The Yorkshire Rose is Ravishing. One of my most favorite features of the lambsfoot is the stiff pull and hard snap. I absolutely love the large coke bottle pattern and intended to pickup a ton of them. The weak pull killed it dead.

:D :D :D

Thanks Dwight :) That's a real shame, I absolutely hate a weak pull  Superb pic there my friend :)

I have to agree with you, Dwight. Nothing worse than waiting for a new knife and have a weak backspring.

Just awful!

That ivory is looking good, Jack. You know, isn't scrimshaw done on ivory? Maybe Rachel can put a whale on it, or a bottle of beer, or a smiley face. :) ;)

Thanks Vince, Rachel has a lot of talent doesn't she? :)

Hello Guardians and I hope everyone's Friday is (or was) a GREAT one, with a fantastic weekend to follow ;)

Great track OG :)

Good morning, Guardians!

Thank you my friend, another interesting oldie :)

I'm taking my computer to the shop and see if they can find what is happening with it and it's numerous miscues. Love the Yorkshire Rose!!

Since I'm going to be without my computer for a few days...unless it's a quick fix...like telling me I doing something wrong. I'll try using my phone but don't know how that will work out.
Have a great weekend Guardians

Thanks Preston, I hope that you can get it fixed quickly, that's an excellent pic :) My internet connection is so bad today, I can't even load my emails on my PC, having to use my phone o_O:thumbsup:

I've been meaning to post these for a while (pls excuse the reflections & oil smears). I have a couple others, but they get left around the place...

- Two new Wrights - A rosewood w/satin blade and a polished blade with horn handle
- I added the older Taylor's eye. Not the finish of the Wrights, but robust, tight & snappy - made to work.

Those are great pics :) Nice to see your growing Lambsfoot collection

Thanks Vince, Rachel has a lot of talent doesn't she? :)
She sure does.
Cool pic of your AC Vince :)
Thanks, Jack. Jasmine in my back yard. Pic is from last month, but I believe it's blooming again. Doing some yard work tomorrow if it don't rain "and the creek don't rise." Hope you have a great hike tomorrow.

I guess the major themes of my post today will be sunrises and striped knives. :)
(But it turns out I have to split them across two posts. :()

First a sunrise retrospective:
Meako, OG, and Dwight, those are striking sunrise photos featuring sky and water!:cool::cool::thumbsup: I'd like to add one of my own, taken when my daughter and I visited Denia, Spain, a seaport on the Mediterranean coast:

Now some miscellaneous topics and knives:
Thanks, GT. :)
Sometimes you see your knife just sitting there and think, "That'll make a neat picture."
This one turned out even better than I expected, making the covers look striped. I think it threw a few people off. :D
Definitely a blue ribbon photo, John!:thumbsup::cool:

Pictures on top of posts are some of my favorites... that one is excellent!
Thanks, John. :) And here's one of your post-top shots! ;):cool:
Good Morning Guardians

Gary, you make your posts so personal with the your remarks, seems like you could be standing/sitting in a room with everyone having the conversation. Love reading your posts. That's a great shot of Union Jack, just like you described.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Preston.:) I think many of us here, including you, take quite a personal approach in our responses to posts :cool::thumbsup:. Maybe that's why the traditional sub-forum is often called The Porch. ;) I never use the "like" button, partly because I'd just end up doing it for almost every post I read, and partly because I have this weird phobia about "like" buttons being too impersonal. So I try to make up for that by investing some time in responding more personally to a few posts each day, somewhere on BF.

Thanks for the compliment Gary! :) In this day and age saying you have a Senator in your pocket could be taken the wrong way! Your Union Jack is looking good my friend!

...
Funny.

Nice patina there yourself, Gary.
Thanks from Union Jack and me for the compliments, Ron and Vince. :)
Ron, as Vince notes, I was just trying to be funny. It seemed funnier to me when I included the phrase "in your pocket" that I'd originally left out. I've had an A. Wright senator lambsfoot for several years, and it wasn't until yesterday that I made any kind of political connections; isn't that strange how stuff suddenly occurs to someone?

...
Morning Guardians, hope everyone has had a good week :) I'm still struggling with my internet connection I'm afraid, and this is likely to continue for at least a couple of weeks I'm afraid o_O Oh, to live in a First World country  At least it's Friday eh ;) Have a good day folks

Sorry to hear about your ongoing internet complications, Jack. :( I hope the frustrations end soon.
Your knife photo and the long winter some of us just experienced reminded me of these lyrics ;):thumbsup::
Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love in the spring becomes the rose

5K Qs 5K Qs Hey Gary, Beautiful pile side view of Union Jack. Your effort at image making shows.

I feel your pain, but my take is different. It might take me a half hour and twenty or more images to get one that I’m happy with, and then on to post processing. For me it’s a joyful, meditative experience as I chase light and perspective. Not to mention that it gets me away from the various Housewives of from where ever that the Missus is watching.:)
...
Thanks for the encouragement and insights, Harvey.:cool::) I'm not sure I'll ever reach your state of seeing the knife pic process as "joyful and meditative", but I'll certainly try to develop a more positive attitude!

...
The past few years it's hot and dry in May, and wet in June which we need as the forest fires are out of control in the North.
Dave, it's difficult for me to even imagine the size, duration, and intensity of the fires in western North America!:( Praying that everyone affected will be able to cope with all the many resulting challenges.

...
Did some weeding earlier, before I started up the mower...just in case any of my neighbors were sleeping in. I'm about half way done with the mowing, ...

What an impressive vista, Preston, with apparently limitless horizon!!:cool::cool:
Very thoughtful of you to consider your neighbors' sleep before mowing.:thumbsup: My wife always reminds me of that when I want to mow in the cool of the morning, and I reluctantly take her advice, but I tell her I'd prefer to give the neighbors an opportunity to share the joy and promise of a fresh new day with me!

...
Definitely a looker GT :)

Thanks, Jack. :)

Happy Friday, Guardians!

Didn't the Rolling Stones once sing something like "Have you seen Black Betty, baby, standing in the shadows?"

Jack, thank you, you give so much of your time for the Guardians. Both in responding to this thread with comments, information, knowledge and providing us the opportunities to acquire new, special Lambsfoot knives. You always go above and beyond for the Guardians!
+ 5K! :thumbsup::thumbsup: Preach it, Brother Preston! :cool::thumbsup::)

- GT
