Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

We did thanks John :) Thank you for the compliment :) I didn't realise you had double-deckers across the pond at all. Off-hand, I don't recall having seen them anywhere outside Britain and Ireland
Rode one once in San Antonio over 30 years ago. I remember that show you posted a clip of. About 50 years ago. Don't remember the plots, but I remember a scene where the big boy ("Doughnut") accidentally ate a large cooking spoonful of mustard thinking it was honey.

That's a great photo with your Damascus Lambsfoot Barry :) I have been eyeing draw knives up lately, and that looks like a nice one :)

It sees a fair bit of use Jack, it has quickly become one of my most carried knives. It just seems to hit the perfect balance between stoutness and finesse. I have 3 knives that get carried almost every day, but may not get posted.my GEC 44, one of my tl29 types, and the lambsfoot. The tl29's are the ones that I'll swap for a different pattern the most.

That's great to hear David, nice company too :)

Another neat old plane that still gets used on a rare occasion:

Another great pic Barry :)

I'm now on the look-out for a finger plane. It's a like a hand plane, but smaller. :)

Cool Rachel  I sometimes see finger planes! ;)

I don't remember any of the plots either Vince, it IS that long ago isn't it?! :D

Fantastic Barry :)

Mr. Black I submit my application into the Guardians of the Lambsfoot.

It arrived today and Ms Sarah and Ms Jane picked me out a beautiful knife. Therefore her name is Sarah Jane.

It is a really wonderful knife, f&f is not perfect however it is very close and more than acceptable for a user. Smooth action that needs a little flush. It is extremely sharp. All that means I am very pleased and will get it into my pocket tomorrow to start enjoying as soon as possible.
Welcome, that's a great start/introduction, congratulations. You'll like it here
Thanks for the great comparison shots of those two lambs, Harry. Charlie was right on with his rendition!
And the cocoa butter oils the joints, right? ;) :D
You're right, Greg, I didn't even think about that, good call!
Very true

Loonnnnngggggg day Greg! :D Yes, I took some pics of my knife just resting on the various contents of my mate's tool stall :)

I hope we can have that pint together one day my friend :)

Thank you Jose

Thank you Preston :D

Thanks for the info Rachel, candy hearts are still available here, and sold throughout the year, though they are maybe considered a bit old fashioned now. Looking forward to seeing how your Barlow patinas :)

Great to have you here cudgee cudgee :)

LOL! :D I bet it did Kevin! In the early 1980's, I worked as a youth-worker. I regularly worked over 70 hours a week, but only got paid for 35. While my employer wouldn't pay overtime, I could take the accumulated time off. As I came towards the end of my contract, they still owed me 5 weeks, so I took that off. But I then had to go back for a week to tie things up, which was weird as a lot of people thought I had already left

Thanks pal, yes, I have an awful lot of old junk! :D Cool pic of your Barlow, nice to see it being put straight to work :)

Nice post Preston :)
Thank you, Jack, as I unwrapped my HartsHead Barlow I thought about all the time and effort you put on just this one issue. The thought that you put into it, gathering the materials, wrapping each individual piece, the mailing and the accounting/bookkeeping. You honor each and everyone of us. My heartsfelt thanks, my friend.
That would have been a good night to be a busboy.

Terrific and apropos photo, Jer, well done.
Thanks Jack! My first Wright’s was my Rosewood Bigun which I bought on the auction site. It’s a great knife, but it’s obviously a 2nd quality. This Ebony was my first introduction to Wright’s first quality knives. It is definitely a beautiful knife. The Ebony is rich and buttery smooth! It is one of my favorites! :)

I got an “Out for delivery” notice this morning for my Waynorth Lambsfoot knives! :D I’m totin an Ironwood to hold me over until this evening! Y’all have a great day! :D

Very good, Ron...love the 'Out for Delivery' notices...photos are required as you well know!
I really enjoy the pictures of the Lambsfoot knives taken along with other hand tools.
At the heart of it all, isn't that what our knives really are? Tools? So, let's see them tools...

Great idea, John, I'm going to rummage through my tool stuff and see what I can find!

Barry, you have some great vintage tools...sure do go well with the lambs!

GOOD MORNING Guardians and to any others who may be lurking about :) Hope your Friday is/was a fantastic one.
Congrats to all who have had, as Taylor says, "Christmas in June"
FANTASTIC TOOL PICS TODAY - GRATS AND THANKS TO ALL - FANTASTIC
Here's one of my favorite songs from one of my all time favorite groups.
I have it on an earlier album which I like better but anyway, I hope y'all enjoy it.

Thank you Preston, I'm touched by your kind and thoughtful words. It has been a struggle my friend

Happy Friday, Guardians. Going with the John's tool theme...

Hope your Friday leads into a great weekend.

Excellent :)

How about a new tool and a newish tool roll?

DUHy1I7h.jpg

I originally did not plan to try for one of these, but then realized I'd be kicking myself if I passed up an opportunity to have one from the first run of American Lambsfoot knives. It arrived today and I'm very pleased.

A big congratulations to Charlie and everyone else who had a hand in the project. It turned out marvelously. And thanks Barry for shepherding it to my little flock.

Congratulations Greg, I think you made a wise choice :)

Barry, you may recognize the hat. Yes, I am currently up on my dues and to prove it I put the current annual button on the cap. The two Wright's show both types of stag available from A. Wright. I prefer the one Jack picked out (though I do have some rough edges to smooth out on three of the pins.

Too many wonderful photos for me to say something about each, especially as I'm on my way out the door.

Mild & Bitter was common in West Yorkshire. I always thought a 'Boilermaker' was a cocktail too! :D

On the trip I mentioned, we got escorted across Morecambe Sands by the Queen's Guide :) Great pic Davvid, and very topical of course :) Hope work isn't too punishing my friend

Morning Guardians, it has taken me over two hours to get caught up here (and I'm still way behind elsewhere)! At least it's Friday eh? ;)

I've got to dash now, but I'm taking Miss Lucy out for lunch ;) Have a good day folks

Brown & Mild was what I first started drinking, and yes a tad bit younger than the legal 18 back then. Good morning all.

Good Morning Guardians
Waking up to my Lambsfoot and some coffee... I'll take some better pictures when the sun wakes up. :)

As you all know a knife is but a tool we carry to accomplish a task. We don't know what task it will be when we select our knife and put it in our pocket, so we attempt to pick the best tool we can. We don't know when the task will come, so we choose to have our knife always handy. The knife must be able to handle any task down to the most mundane, like sharpening a pencil when no other sharpener is available.
SJ, was up to her first task.

"Morning Stretches"

Happy Friday, Guardians! I hope it's a good day that leads into a great weekend for everyone.

Thank you Jack. I hope you have a great weekend.

Dave is it also slow when you are mailing from inside Canada internationally?

On my laptop I open the email and right click on the photo. A list of options are presented and I click on "save to photos". The photo is then moved to my photos. At that point I can go to my photos and choose the photo and - post it, email it, edit it... etc. I hope that helps! :)

Sarah Jane is a real looker.

Beautiful shot Greg and there is that incredible cup again!

Funny how middle age keeps advancing as you get older, isn't it :) It's up to somewhere around 70 or 80 for me  Guess I'm finally in it

Thank you, Dwight! I may not show that cup that often, but it gets used for multiple cups of coffee everyday. It just feels so perfect in my hand. That’s something we Guardians all can relate to, I think. :)

And, there is another incredible photo of that Hartshead of yours! :)

A nice, cool, overcast morning...

That’s the beginning of my favorite kind of California day, where yo7 get to experience the arc of all four California seasons over the course of the day.

And your Rosewood sure does look look good in the morning light. :)

Great balancing act Greg, I wish I was that limber! :D The same to you my friend :)

LOL, me too!

Great to see you posting here. And, I love seeing a modern Lambsfoot that has put in serious work. Thanks for sharing yours.

Happy Friday to all!

Wow, folks!! What a beautiful array of knives and old hand tools. I love seeing them. If I ever get in to serious woodworking again, it will be with quality hand tools rather than trying to rush through it with power.

Finally caught up! Lots of good stuff today.

Good morning, Guardians!
