Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good Morning Guardians
I spent a lot of time yesterday "reading and liking" everybody's posts, but had little time to "quote and reply" to everyone. I will start with all the new posts that happened while I was sleeping and then work through the previous ones afterwards. With the popularity of this thread, it's getting tough to keep up with all the pictures and comments. I will give it my beat try and appologize in advance in case I miss anybody.

Don't you Flitz your files and chisels?? ;)
I will when I start carrying them. ;)

Beauties, Ron. Glad to see you got one of each.

Earlier today I mentioned that I thought we'd seen an unprecedented level of new interest in the Lambsfoot pattern, or, at least, this thread. I thought I'd see if I could back that up with data. Here's what I found about the number of members contributing to this thread, looking at all posts up through page 1232:

2016: 62 different members posted
2017: 103 different members posted; of these, 66 had never posted here before
2018: 126 different members posted; of these, 65 had never posted here before
2019 (YTD): 151 different members posted; of these 73 had never posted here before

So, just shy of half way through 2019, we already have 20% more members posting and 12% more first-time posters than in all of 2018.

Not too shabby, folks. Keep spreading the word. :)
No wonder it's getting so hard to keep up with it all. :D ;)

I carry a stag Barlow lambsfoot...

Excellent, Vince. I agree, it's very good looking!

I can see why you like that place, it looks delicious.
Glad you got to spend the day with your daughter having a bit of fun.

Lovely pair of Lambsfoot knives.

Morning Guardians, I got behind following our posts yesterday, if I failed to respond to you I apologize. :)

I think we are all falling a bit behind, Dave. It's getting harder to "quote and reply" to everybody. Hope you have a great day.

Hartshead Barlow in gnarly stag. The A&S logo completes it.View attachment 1152830
Great photo of your Barlow, Alan.

Good Saturday morning Guardians, dog training is on for today. I thought about carrying the handsome HHB, but will go with Rosie instead. Have a good day, all.

Beautiful Barlow. I agree with you though, when there's work to be done I reach for my rosewood too. Hope you have a fun day training.

Going with an older picture today because I like it. :D

John, this is exactly what I'm feeling when I read this thread. It's going a little bit fast for me and I'm not that easy with quotes and replies. I take this opportunity to say thank you for all comments and present my apologies for my lack of replies. And this pic is really beautiful.

Dwight, you got the ebony to show off also, great job...but then, you always do!
Thank you Preston!

Have a safe trip, Dwight. Wish him Happy Birthday from The Guardians.
Thanks John. Will do.:)

Received this one this morning. GEC #93 Lambfoot for Waynorth Cutlery.

Really a great week for me with last Monday reception of my Hartshead Barlow

Great job with all the tool pictures, Barry. I'm guessing you have a fine collection of tools as well as knives.

My favorite tools:

I'm now on the look-out for a finger plane. It's a like a hand plane, but smaller. :)
I was a drafter in an earlier period of my life. Those are some great looking old tools.

Another photo of my stag Barlow.:)

Hope your Friday leads into a great weekend.
Great job, PJ. I like the chisels.

I was pleased to find this iconic German saw-set some years ago :)

The hammer on the right is a Sheffield cutler's hammer, the others were made for his own use by someone I mentioned recently, who was a Tackler in one of the old Yorkshire woolen mills :)

Great pictures, Jack. Thanks for adding to the tool theme.

How about a new tool and a newish tool roll?

I originally did not plan to try for one of these, but then realized I'd be kicking myself if I passed up an opportunity to have one from the first run of American Lambsfoot knives. It arrived today and I'm very pleased.

A big congratulations to Charlie and everyone else who had a hand in the project. It turned out marvelously. And thanks Barry for shepherding it to my little flock.
Congrats on your new GEC Lambsfoot.

Barry, you may recognize the hat. Yes, I am currently up on my dues and to prove it I put the current annual button on the cap. The two Wright's show both types of stag available from A. Wright. I prefer the one Jack picked out (though I do have some rough edges to smooth out on three of the pins.

That hat does look familiar! I love it when great minds think alike!!!

Cool hats, gentlemen. Perhaps we need a Guardians hat? ;)

You are right John. I have many old tools, but they weren't so old when I bought them! Most all are users and many I've re-furbished over the years.

Guardians Hat? I'm in!!!! We need a design and they can be made in small batches as they are ordered.

Try explaining that one to the insurance company. :p

Coffee and a Lambsfoot on the stoop this morning.

I think that is a great label on that beer bottle. Reminds me of the Guardians and the funny Zombie Sheep movie.

Fantastic picture of your GEC Lambsfoot.

Have a good weekend, everyone. Dad's in town for a visit, so I doubt I'll be able to keep up.

Hope you have a great visit with your Dad, Rachel. :)

Beautiful picture of your new GEC Lambsfoot.

Holy smokes....the year of the Lambsfoot!!! Wow!!!! Worth the wait!!! Great action and fit and finish on both these knives! The Jigged bone went straight into my pocket. @waynorth these are phenomenal and surpassed all my expectations. Thanks Jack Black Jack Black for introducing me to this fantastic blade style. My appreciation is endless!!!

That's great that they aren't just show pieces.

I'm sure there would be several of us interested in them.

Hope you have a great visit with your Dad, Rachel. :)
Thank you.
Will do!
Great pic Rachel, and a fine set.

Dang, if I’d known you were after a finger plane, I could’ve gotten you a brand new one, made with the original tooling, at the last place I worked at. I’ll keep an eye out for a second hand one, although they’re not as common as some of the other old Sheffield made woodworking tools.
Thank you. I wouldn't say I've been hunting for a finger plane. It's more that while scrolling through ebay looking at old drafting tools, I see lots of interesting vintage small hand-tools. I find myself trying to come up with some excuse for wanting one. :D Something beyond just being old and interesting: "Oh, I could use that to shape a wooden handle, or trim the edges of something or other..." :D

I've checked the A. Wright & Son website, and the Barlow does not look like this at all. Have they stopped making the Hartshead Barlow?
