Beauties, Ron. Glad to see you got one of each.
No wonder it's getting so hard to keep up with it all.Earlier today I mentioned that I thought we'd seen an unprecedented level of new interest in the Lambsfoot pattern, or, at least, this thread. I thought I'd see if I could back that up with data. Here's what I found about the number of members contributing to this thread, looking at all posts up through page 1232:
2016: 62 different members posted
2017: 103 different members posted; of these, 66 had never posted here before
2018: 126 different members posted; of these, 65 had never posted here before
2019 (YTD): 151 different members posted; of these 73 had never posted here before
So, just shy of half way through 2019, we already have 20% more members posting and 12% more first-time posters than in all of 2018.
Not too shabby, folks. Keep spreading the word.![]()

Lovely pair of Lambsfoot knives.
I think we are all falling a bit behind, Dave. It's getting harder to "quote and reply" to everybody. Hope you have a great day.Morning Guardians, I got behind following our posts yesterday, if I failed to respond to you I apologize.

Be still my heart, that is a beautiful knife.
Good Morning Guardians
I spent a lot of time yesterday "reading and liking" everybody's posts, but had little time to "quote and reply" to everyone. I will start with all the new posts that happened while I was sleeping and then work through the previous ones afterwards. With the popularity of this thread, it's getting tough to keep up with all the pictures and comments. I will give it my beat try and appologize in advance in case I miss anybody.
Going with an older picture today because I like it.

Great pictures, Jack. Thanks for adding to the tool theme. The hammer on the right is a Sheffield cutler's hammer, the others were made for his own use by someone I mentioned recently, who was a Tackler in one of the old Yorkshire woolen mills

Congrats on your new GEC Lambsfoot. How about a new tool and a newish tool roll?

I originally did not plan to try for one of these, but then realized I'd be kicking myself if I passed up an opportunity to have one from the first run of American Lambsfoot knives. It arrived today and I'm very pleased.
A big congratulations to Charlie and everyone else who had a hand in the project. It turned out marvelously. And thanks Barry for shepherding it to my little flock.
Barry, you may recognize the hat. Yes, I am currently up on my dues and to prove it I put the current annual button on the cap. The two Wright's show both types of stag available from A. Wright. I prefer the one Jack picked out (though I do have some rough edges to smooth out on three of the pins.

That's great that they aren't just show pieces. You are right John. I have many old tools, but they weren't so old when I bought them! Most all are users and many I've re-furbished over the years.
I'm sure there would be several of us interested in them.Guardians Hat? I'm in!!!! We need a design and they can be made in small batches as they are ordered.

Thank you. I wouldn't say I've been hunting for a finger plane. It's more that while scrolling through ebay looking at old drafting tools, I see lots of interesting vintage small hand-tools. I find myself trying to come up with some excuse for wanting one.Great pic Rachel, and a fine set.
Dang, if I’d known you were after a finger plane, I could’ve gotten you a brand new one, made with the original tooling, at the last place I worked at. I’ll keep an eye out for a second hand one, although they’re not as common as some of the other old Sheffield made woodworking tools.
It was a Special Factory Order by Jack. You could send him a private message with questions as forum rules prohibit that kind of discussion here.I've checked the A. Wright & Son website, and the Barlow does not look like this at all. Have they stopped making the Hartshead Barlow?
