Honestly, it was the people here in the Guardian's thread. I was hanging out here long before I got my first Lambsfoot knife. The Porch as a whole is a friendly place, but the Guardians were over-the-top friendly and supportive of each other.
That's getting some good use out of your WCLF!
Nice view!!This was my first Lambsfoot, gifted to me by Jack during my trip to the Lake District last summer.

Oops. Make that eight of them with #9 and #10 on the way.

I'm in!Because I was the winner in the Yorkshire Day contest please send it to Dennis

I do not know what I have done to incur such generosity and thoughtfulness from you guys, but please know it is very touching and appreciated! Thank you, I am truly humbled!
Same here mate, these trendy joints charge up to five bucks for a coffee that is very ordinary, so you do have to be selective. I can get a better coffee from 7/11 for one dollar, that is much better than what some of the trendy joints charge. Just returned from my walk, zero degrees and a good frost, but got the heater going, and going to be a good day.![]()

With the 1,500 page milestone coming up, I've been reflecting on how far this thread has come over the past three years. And, more importantly, how much the pattern itself has risen in popularity here on The Porch.
For those who are willing to share, I'm curious what prompted your first lambsfoot acquisition? Was it a particular post that gave you an "I've got to have one!" moment? Was it a slow and steady building of curiosity until you decided you might as well purchase one? A gift maybe? Or, did you just want to be like Jack?
For me, it was allJack Black and @r8shell's fault.
I'd been gradually building a curiosity about the pattern after seeing a few of Jack's in the Totin' thread, but then, over the course of about a day, Jack posted a picture of his special buffalo horn and r8shell posted a picture of her rosewood. Seeing those two essentially back to back pushed me over the "I need to try one" threshold and I ended up ordering the standard buffalo horn model that I now carry nearly every day.
It didn't start out as my every-day carry, of course. I had to build the relationship with it and come to appreciate all of its many charms and capabilities. But I'm so glad I did. Had I not seen those two pictures back to back in early June of 2016, who knows how much longer it would have taken to get one in my collection.
That's my "how I got my first lambsfoot story." Anyone else want to share theirs?
Falling behind a little in this thread, even just reading, but checking in to report that the lambsfoot I'm carrying this week is Cracker Jack, my Ashley's Choice:

Ty Jack !
WOW it's big even when dead, I can imagine it looked even bigger alive crawling all over !
What made me want to become a Guardian and carry a Lambsfoot knife?
Honestly, it was the people here in the Guardian's thread. I was hanging out here long before I got my first Lambsfoot knife. The Porch as a whole is a friendly place, but the Guardians were over-the-top friendly and supportive of each other.
I was constantly carrying another knife that was very similar to a Lambsfoot, so when Jack gifted me my first Lambsfoot it was a natural transition. There's been one in my pocket every day since.

@WhittlinAway
Hi Greg, I started my modest collection a couple years ago. A few months ago I discovered "The Porch" and began reading it regularly.
I became very intrigued as the Guardians thread was always at the top and I perceived a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I wanted to belong to it.
I saw Jack's name mentioned often in the thread ( still I did not know he was the creator of it ) so I wrote to him and he shared with me more information about this pattern.
Once I got mine ( seemed it took forever to cross the pond into Canada) I was fascinated with it. It seemed to "fit me".
I took it to our long awaited vacation in Prince Edward Island and of the 8 knives I took it was the only one I really used.
I then started the " A Walk in Nature" series of pics which naturally meant that now I was carrying it all the time. And the more I carried it, the more I liked it.
To quote myself LOL![]()
I’m in the middle of a very busy time, so please excuse an older picture in the outdoors, but I’m in!
This was my first Lambsfoot, gifted to me by Jack during my trip to the Lake District last summer.

That is Doug the Pug.
![]()
And since we had a closeup of Doug we need a closeup of my Lambsfoot
![]()
Why did I jump into the Guardians thread? I didn't have one and had been checking out the thread for sometime so I jumped right in and got one and then another and then another and now I've got seven of them with #8 and #9 on the way.
![]()
Oops. Make that eight of them with #9 and #10 on the way.

I really love this pile side stag.
Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Simply wonderful images of Lambsfoot Journeys.
@Modoc ED - So Happy for you with the test results.
dc50 - Wishing that things continue to go well for you, Dave.
@WhittlinAway - My attraction to the Lambsfoot started out of curiosity. I lurked quite a bit, at first, and it took a while to catch the vibe. I was first drawn to the politeness. I also felt like I had stepped into a time machine. Also took a while to understand what is a Lambsfoot knife. Did a lot of history reading, and pesteringJack Black for answers. He was and is a very kind and patient fellow. As are the Guardians. Once I acquired my first Lambsfoot, I was off to the races. I love the older ones as well as Jack’s SFOs.
