Not mine I'm afraid Harvey, there are usually a few of them in most town centres here (less than in the past though), so I will have to try and get a better pic when they start to appear again, probably in a week or twoBeautiful photo my friend
I know we have all joked and commiserated with Davedc50 , who always seems to be the last to get any form of delivery from over here. I'd advise you never to order anything from Italy Dave!
A friend of mine went on holiday to Naples at the beginning of April, and sent me and a few other friends postcards, they arrived yesterday - posted on April 3rd!
I could have walked to Naples in that time!

I'm sure they have roasted chestnuts here, I just never really thought to try them. That's a shame John, are they not available where you live?
It was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw that hazelnut husk.
Thanks Kevin, your 18 and bagels are looking scrumptious.

Me too KevinMy dad was a machine-tool fitter at James Neill Tools (Eclipse) for 30-odd years. I don't know what he was like at work, maybe he was completely different, but I have rarely met a man who was more clueless and incompetent with his hands!
I always enjoyed that episode as a kid! Thanks mate
That looks like a healthy snack

I highly recommend chestnuts. Unfortunately, I only see them in the grocery stores down here around Thanksgiving. Sometimes they are good, and sometimes they're already getting moldy.I'm sure they have roasted chestnuts here, I just never really thought to try them.
Great story Rachel, and thanks for the information.I highly recommend chestnuts. Unfortunately, I only see them in the grocery stores down here around Thanksgiving. Sometimes they are good, and sometimes they're already getting moldy.
Traditionally, you cut an X in the shell to let out the steam (a perfect job for a lambsfoot) and roast 'em. I'm lazy and have cut myself enough times doing that, that I just chop them in half. Put them cut side down on foil or a pan and cook them in the toaster oven. It makes me very nostalgic. My mother and I took a trip to Italy many years back, and we would buy a bag and take turns holding it to warm up our hands. (she's vegan, and it was a favorite "street food" we could both enjoy)
Have a great weekend, Guardians!

Thank you very much, Mark! I didn't think we'd get so attached to him this fast!Glad Henry did well Dennis. Great pics my friend!
The owner of the restaurant came out to speak to me, and told me that in the four years she had been there, it was the first time they'd seen the strange husks. I had not seen them before, and took a few photos, and a few of the nuts to identify them. I think they're Turkish Hazelnuts.
