Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

My wife and I celebrated our 33rd last night.
We are not "fancy people", our evening consisted of dinner at one of our local BBQ restaurants and going to a local high school football game. My wife is a high-up-muckety-muck in the school district, so we go to a lot of school events together in the evenings. But of course the football season is my favorite! But since it was such an occasion, I had a 'fancy' knife on me to celebrate in style...

Textile Cone & Tiger Cowrie. Modoc ED thanks for the idea.

Bugs57 Bugs57 - I was stationed at NAVSECGRUDEPT/NAVCOMSTA Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean from April 1974 through April 1975 and did quite a bit of shelling. Here is one box of many boxes of shells that I have.

Since Diego Garcia had seen very little shelling, when I returned to NAVSECSTA in Washington, D.C., I took a sampling of 50 various shells to the Smithsonian, Museum of Natural History and gave them to the museum. They were happy to get them and I had an interesting talk with a couple of the curators there.

Thank you, Rachel! These are from my childhood romping around out in the country side.

Hope it does cool off for you guys! That photo should bring you good mojo!

That sounds miserable. :(
Hope things cool off for you soon, Rachel.
Thanks! I was at a garden party/brunch at the neighbors this morning. Just walked home and it's pretty tropical out there. I'm hoping this is summer's last gasp.

I'm sure they have roasted chestnuts here, I just never really thought to try them.

You really should give them a try John :)

Took a hike on a beautiful Fall day with this Lambsfoot, a gift from Jack Black.

LOL! :D The house got painted, just not by the old feller! Great to see Betty Kevin

I highly recommend chestnuts. Unfortunately, I only see them in the grocery stores down here around Thanksgiving. Sometimes they are good, and sometimes they're already getting moldy. :(
Traditionally, you cut an X in the shell to let out the steam (a perfect job for a lambsfoot) and roast 'em. I'm lazy and have cut myself enough times doing that, that I just chop them in half. Put them cut side down on foil or a pan and cook them in the toaster oven. It makes me very nostalgic. My mother and I took a trip to Italy many years back, and we would buy a bag and take turns holding it to warm up our hands. (she's vegan, and it was a favorite "street food" we could both enjoy)

Have a great weekend, Guardians!

Yes, the store-bought ones can be a bit hit and miss here too. They are seasonal here too, though I bought some vacuum-sealed chestnuts on offer in a deli a few months back, I'd intended to use them in a recipe I had, but I ended up scoffing the lot with a few beers! :D Chestnut-stuffing used to be quite traditional here at Xmas, but less so today. That's a nice memory Rachel :) Nice pic of your Barlow too

Happy weekend Guardians! I'm about 2 weeks behind due to my move and there's no chance I'll catch up but I hope all are doing well.

Wonderful Dan :)

Thank you, that's a nice photo and a nice bunch of arrowheads. I've never purposely hunted for them, but I used to find one from time to time.

It's supposed to rain today, and only get up to 96 degrees. :(
Maybe pictures from last year will bring the cold front:
