Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Love the pic Kevin
I always enjoy your collection of cars and trucks ... and lambsfoot knives :)
Thank you, Dan. I am glad to barter for all the enjoyment I get from your nature / lambsfoot pics.

Fab pic Kevin, hope there are better times ahead for you brother

Interesting pic Kevin, hope you're doing OK buddy  My mate gave me a book last night ;)

But at least your photography skills have not diminished!
Nice, Kevin...two Special Editions together!

Thanks, fellas. I have been going through my bookshelves and I am finding stuff I didn't even know I had.....or maybe I just forgot.:D

I’ve had my Ashley’s Choice in my pocket today! :)

Your AC always looks good Ron :)

Good evening.

I'm hoping to loosen Tater's hard pull up a wee bit. Made a copper wire shim and gently tapped it in while the blade is held in a vice.

IMG-1633.jpg

That pic probably looks a lot more scarier than it is!

Yow! It's like when you accidentally stumble on one of those surgery shows when switching channels.
I've lightened the pull on a blade by carefully filing the inside corner of the tang with a jeweler's file. (the corner that pushes the spring up on opening, not the one that pushes to close.) That way the knife opens easier without actually changing the tension of the spring.

Did that. Followed Cambertree’s tune-up procedure. Made a noticeable difference, but still too strong for my liking.

My reaction was just the same as Rachel's! I can usually lighten an overly stiff pull to the point it's manageable, and I prefer a stiff pull anyway. Did the shim work OK, I've done the same with bamboo skewers in the past?

Been carrying this since I got it Wednesday and I must say I’m quite fond of it. It’s a little on the big side for me and I will for sure be getting smaller one soon. So far I’m really liking the lambfoot.

Nice-looking Big 'Un :)

I was planning to make steak, potatoes, and greens beans for dinner but didn’t want to go to the store so instead I sliced up and few snacks with my A. Wright, grabbed a drink, and put on a classic Christmas music....Die Hard!!! Hope everyone’s enjoying their evening.

So as I sit around doing exactly what I said I shouldn't do. I find myself curious about how one goes about having a knife christened... I'm whipping up a batch of eggnog for a family gathering tomorrow and nothing that I've encountered goes better with eggnog than vsop.

For me, it usually ends with me having to get out the Band Aids! ;) :D

That does look pristine :) It'll soon colour up though

Morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a great weekend :) I'm still aching a bit from my exertions yesterday - there was a time I could walk 40 miles with a 60 lb pack, now the housework has me beat! o_O  Still got some stuff to do today, and my Hartshead Barlow could do with a touch-up, so I think I'll prioritise that :D ;) Have a lovely Sunday folks

I've always said that it can't be mine until I've cut myself with it. It already gave me a pretty nasty bite the day it came in the mail. Set a record for quickest self inflicted knife wound.

Blimey, hope there's no more of that Willie

I found the Guardians shortly after that, and I'm glad I did too. :)

That knife is Worthy too. ;)

For some of them, it's their waken state. :D

Thank you, Mark. :)

Beautiful knife pictured on an artistic background. Makes for a great picture.:thumbsup:

Classy picture, Mark. :cool::thumbsup:
Thanks a lot, John.

Thanks a lot Mark, I must have a dozen flasks, but that is the only one I have in that shape, and I rather like it :)

Me too John :) Sorry you missed out on the 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot though :( Thank you for the kind words :)

Nice pic John :)

Sorry you never got to meet your wife's grandfather Mark, but it's nice you have his flask, it looks like a good one :) Excellent pic
It is a cool, unusual shape, Jack.:cool: And the saying puts it over the top!

Me too, Jack. Thanks for the compliments.

Sorry Mark, this one got dropped from my post above.
Great photo of two very awesome family heirlooms!:)

Hope you are recovering and feeling better, Bill!!
Thanks, Dennis. Both heirlooms, I agree.;)

Thank you, Mark. In regards to the flooring, we opted for an Engineered Vinyl Plank instead of a wood. With kids and a number of dogs, we wanted something that would hold up well to high traffic, a lot of wear, and whatever else life might throw at it. I am quite partial to wood but a lot of the stuff that would hold up well to what we anticipated was going to be quite costly. The planking we chose is pretty slick looking though, the texture and coloring mirror that of an aged sawcut oak plank.

Thanks, fellas! Worthy, indeed!

Here is my TGIF beverage, knife, and smoke choices this evening. I hope everyone has a terrific weekend.

cqMyEZt.jpg
Sounds like a good choice, Dylan. I hear the Vinyl holds up well to those things. Another wonderful photo of a classic there!

Morning Guardians, hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Think we're just going out for some lunch, and to do a bit of shopping. Taking Miss Lucy out for the day :)

Really great photo of Lucy, Jack. She really sings out in the daylight!

Thanks, John! I'm afraid most are cringe worthy!:D

Part of the KISS nation?:D They're a mess of ugly without the makeup! But the HHB dresses it up nicely!:thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack!
A little rum or Apfelkorn on a brisk morning hike warms you up nicely!;)

Awsome photo, Dan!:)
Our Cocker Spaniel was a week old when we got him, his mom had parvo and we were just trying to help them out by bottle feeding him.....he wound up staying! Only survivor out of 5 pups.

What a cute Cocker, Dennis. A strong will to live will get you far!

:D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Dan, I agree with you about the variety of educational experiences this thread provides!:cool::thumbsup: I disagree with you on the personality of blue jays! ;) I think they're loud-mouthed obnoxious bullies! :( I'm surprised yours didn't give you a "piece of its mind" while eating the treats you provided!

Good news about your wife, Mark.:thumbsup::) Thanks for the wood info. :)

Does that actually work??? ;)

Beauteous red bone lambsfoot, Dylan, and fascinating reflection in your drinking vessel!:cool::cool:

Impressive ironwood, Vince and Ron and Russell!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Russell, I love the "face" in the grain of your knife! :D:cool:

Exquisite ebony WCLF, John! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
But from what alternate universe do you come in which those other items are considered Christmas ornaments?? :D:p

Condolences on losing Koko, Dan. I hope Toby can help ease the pain.
(I also hope he doesn't earn the name Toby the Troublemaker! He looks FAR more innocent than a puppy should.:p;)

Congrats on the package, Jack!:cool::thumbsup: I hope it enhances your grooming experience. ;) Well-done, Mike!:thumbsup::)

Enchanting ebony 2018 Guardians lambsfoot SFOs, FBC & Dylan!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Incredibly good news, Gary, thanks. :) 2 real winners you have there!

Hope you're having a nice day Dave :)

Me too :( I hope he's OK, I PMed him a couple of weeks back, but haven't had a reply yet

Looks like a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon Jon

Looking good Russell :)

I've spent the afternoon sat round a fire in the street, drinking rum, and eating lots of nice food. Smell like a bonfire now! :D

Some young lad was showing people how to make some wooden 'flower sculptures'. I didn't have a go, but I had a look at his tools, and gave him a few old ones I had

Your ebony is looking very fine, Jack!:cool::thumbsup: (Am I remembering correctly that the background is a colorful chair?)

Great pic of your ironwood with a fantastic family heirloom, Mark!:cool::cool:

I hope you're on your feet again soon, Bill! ;)

Thanks for showing your 2-blade lambsfoot, ED!:thumbsup::cool:

Those rosewood HHB lambsfoots certainly look like trustworthy tools!:thumbsup::cool:

Hang in there, Dennis! I admire your positive attitude!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Fine pic of your Big Horn Lamb! ;):thumbsup:

Cool pic, Dan, although my wife was uncomfortable seeing a puppy on a cutting board!:D:cool:

I enjoyed the rare sighting of that gleaming stateslamb, Ron!:cool::thumbsup:

Even "under the gun", your ebony is enchanting, Harvey!:cool::thumbsup:

A luscious lunch with that lovely lass Lucy sounds laudable, Jack!:cool::cool:

Best wishes for your son's audition, John.:)
Your ebony lamb fits right into the Nativity scene with the livestock, John, but the TARDIS seems to "mix metaphors".:D

Cool shot of your stag HHB SFO, Dennis! Looks like Henry not only survived, but he's thriving!:thumbsup::cool:

I'm glad I learned to drive out in the country where I could master the mechanics of driving my own vehicle with few worries about the "yahoos" in other cars.

Mine too David, bad knees, and a big belly! :D That's a superb pic David, makes me miss Derbyshire, I wish I could still get out there in 20 minutes or so :(

Saturday stag ;)

It takes me about an hour n half if using public transport to get out to Derbyshire but it's worth it to get away from where I live. :)
Great background shot your HHB is resting on.

That's not bad is it David, you could more or less double that from where I live in North Leeds? I can only really get out there on public transport during the summer months, even then I usually stay over in Sheffield, which makes it a little spendy  Thanks mate, Leeds Bread Co-op Malthouse Sourdough :) That's a fine background there too ;)

Really? and your closer than I am. Just goes to show what an over-populated mess the Liverpool-Manchester-Leeds conurbation has become.
Aye, that's about half of my Christmas ale supplies there. All Yorkshire ales btw :thumbsup:

Yeah, public transport has got really bad recently here in Leeds, it regularly takes me 45 minutes to get to the train station (or as near as the bus goes), but can take even longer. Then there's the walk to the station, and the walk to the platform, add 15 minutes, another 10 if you need a ticket. The 'fast' train to Sheffield takes an hour, and since the train to Derbyshire is only every hour, there's usually a wait at the other end, then the journey itself, and if you want to go anywhere further afield than the places the train serves it's a much longer journey  Glad to see you supporting Yorkshire David ;) :D I hope you're not going to be working at all, and that you have a great Christmas

Crikey Jack, sounds like it's worse than round where I live and that's bad.
I think you need to retire and move back to Sheffield.
I always support Yorkshire when I can. In fact my Yorkshire mates once bestowed upon me the title of 'Honourary Yorkshireman' 'cos I bigged up Yorkshire so much. :D (Not that it needs bigging up).
I could work but the hospitals are absolutely chaotic at the moment and I've had enough.:eek: My Christmas started yesterday and I'm off now until the new year. I hope you've got a nice Christmas planned yourself.

I found what I believe to be sliced pork tenderloin in the freezer, and thought I'd do the old Marbella ploy on it. I'll put it in the slow cooker and hope for the best, since I can't find cooking times for a sliced roast. Worst case scenario, we've got hotdogs. Actually, worst case scenario is I only think we've got hotdogs.

It's rubbish David, they've halved a lot of the bus services recently, just cram more people on. I regularly get on buses with 20 people standing up, sometimes more  I'm not sure I'll ever move back to Sheffield, even though I always loved living there. I bet I can find an 'Honourary Yorkshireman' badge for you! :D I don't blame you for not wanting to work over Christmas, and I'm glad to hear you have a decent break my friend :) I'll just be having a quiet one, but I'm hoping it'll be nice enough :)

Aye I like my Christmas relaxed and peaceful. I'm sure my nephews and nieces will rock up at some point during Christmas week begging for Christmas money, but otherwise it's Christmas carols, mince pies and Christmas cake. :D
