Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks, David, I'm amazed that I dug up an historical hypothesis that was new to you!;)
Someone should make a sketch of Jack drawing a lambsfoot from a stone! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup: Maybe if I ever get another lambsfoot, I should consider naming it Excalibur.

Thanks GT but I can't claim to be any sort of history expert by any means; for one I can't recall half of what I read these days.:D There's part of Britain that have almost no history at all (where I live) and other parts where your literally tripping over it and certainly King Arthur is something I've never really read up on.
All I know is some scholars regard King Arthur as being based on on a real-life person; a certain Ambrosius Aurelianus (mentioned in Bede-AD731). He led the Britons at the Battle of Badon Hill sometime around AD493. And that's all anyone knows of him but some speculate he may of been one of the many Romano-British High Kings that emerged in the years after the Roman withdrawal.
No one knows were Badon Hill is either but the best candidates are all in southern England. Bath, Badbury Hill in Oxfordshire, or Cadbury Hill in Somerset, which @scrteened porch mentioned a couple of weeks back.
The Battle of Badon Hill (which was maybe more of a siege) was apparently such a complete defeat for the Anglo-Saxons they didn't return to Britain for somewhere between 44 and 100years (depending on which source you read).
The legend of Arthur is certainly focused about the south-west of England and Wales which would make sense as they were the last strongholds of British/Romano-British culture. So why Slack in West Yorkshire would be Camelot I don't know when everything points to it being down south.
Saying that it would be fun to see a Youtube vid of Jack pulling Excalibur out the stone, taking a look then saying "well rubbish, it's not a lambsfoot!". :D

I was having a day out at Appleby :)

You weren't at the horse fair were you?:D That can get a tad...raucous as I understand it.:D

Nice pic David, I was out that way about 6 weeks ago, but the museum at Golcar was shut unfortunately. I have always thought Scapegoat Hill was a great name :D

That's the old 1988 O.S map so I didn't even know there was a museum in Golcar. I'll look that up thanks.

I came across a couple of recipes that I thought might be of interest to one or two people, @btb01 in particular

Well would you look at that. A decent and concise recipe for a dandelion & burdock ale! Thanks Jack.

Looks like a cracking recruitment poster shot there Dennis.

Thanks, David. Did it all on its own!:thumbsup:

Old "Scapegoat Hill" lol! Cool photo!

Well, here's to better times coming on the horizon!

Thanks Dennis. And that's an unusual can there; I've not seen them in the UK.

I hope everyone is well.
I'm doing absolutely nothing today.

Maybe someone thought, 'Ambrosius?! He's got to be from bloody Yorkshire with a name like that!'

No, definitely not, I've seen Crimewatch! :D Appleby was very quiet on a midweek summer's day, though there isn't really that much there :)

It's supposed to be good - if you can get in! (I'd put a link in to their site, but it just says they're closed right now) There's very little else in Golcar

It looks alright doesn't it? I only found it by chance

I hope everyone is well.

I thought the Rocking E.T. was all you! :D:thumbsup:
That would be appropriate, wouldn't it. ;)

All-American. :cool::thumbsup:

If you could send that to me, I'll give 'er the old QC check for you!
The slip? Definitely!
The knife? No way!
ED would hunt me down... :D

Thanks buddy, I didn't go into town in the end, but they say most accidents happen in the home...or maybe that is just my home?! All good thanks, hope you and Pam are doing well

Good morning Guardians! I hope y’all are all doing well! Be safe if you’re out and about! Today I’m carrying my Ironwood Big ‘Un  :)

Good Morning Guardians
Have the Three Amigos out for morning coffee.
Here's to the Good Times that are still here if we look hard enough. :)

That drinking vessel is clearly half-full John :) Impressive amigos :)

Morning Guardians. Ebony Big 'Un today. Someone's not very motivated to get up this morning!

Thank you, Matt. :)

Super cute! :cool::thumbsup:
Looks like my kids in the morning.

True, but I only fill it half way so I can drink it before it cools down. I don't like cold coffee.

Thank you, Jack. :)
Obviously three of my favorites.:thumbsup:

I could tell you were a glass half-full guy John ;) :D Actually I've been doing the same this past week, making a large pot (French press) of coffee, then pouring half into one cup, and half into a sealed insulated cup I can have an hour later. My coffee pot is double-wall too, but it doesn't keep the coffee hot for an hour (or several hours) like my Kleen Kanteen cup :)

Thanks Jack! I try to take my Ironwood Bigun out for some air occasionally! ;) We are doing well for now, thanks for asking! I hope the accident wasn’t too bad!? That’s a colorful can of soda your Hartshead is resting on. I hope it tastes as good as it looks! :D

That's good pal :) I didn't really have an accident (though the day isn't over )! :D Vimto is an old-fashioned soda here, it was a still cordial when I was a kid. I can't remember the last time I tasted it. It's OK, but I have to say, I much prefer beer! :D
