Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

That is a beauty Ron. I love it!

Thanks Dwight! :) I was just thinking the exact same thing my friend! ;)

Oh no... I'm sorry for donn donn too. :(
Having three herniated discs in my back, I know it's no picnic when it flairs up.

Hope he's going to be OK soon, back problems can go on a while, as we both know my friend. Hope you're doing OK yourself at the moment

I agree with you on the blade and the fact about the bolsters. Another reason I don’t believe that Wright’s made it is the steel liners. That’s just not a common feature on their knives. It’s really a nice knife. Knowing that Trevor might have made it makes it even more special Jack!

We may never know for certain Ron, but it certainly looks very much like Trevor's work, and I think he is the most likely maker. I'd be interested to know what is marked on the reverse tang. You got a really nice knife there Ron

Happy Sunday Guardians. It's an amazing day out today here in my neck of the woods. Got some yard work done, now enjoying a Bloody Mary! My chickens are doing a great job of keeping us stocked up with eggs. My neighbors are enjoying the fruits of their labor!

Couple of great pics there Taylor, looks like your hens are doing you proud :) Nice to see your well-used Hartshead Barlow :)

Spectacular photos Dan  Well done :)

Ed, here is my Waynorth Lambsfoot! I love this knife such a great user.

Couple of smashers there Taylor :)

Great knife, made even greater by using it for what it was made for. Here's mine ...

0ingey1.jpg

Looking good :)

That bloody Mary looks fabulous. I've been craving one but the liquor stores in PA have been closed. I think they're starting curbside service this week so maybe next weekend I can join you.

Liquor stores closed? :eek::mad:

Horrifying isn't it? We can still get beer and wine so all is not lost:). Neighboring states have even started turning away Pennsylvania customers.

And they tell folks not to stockpile! o_O

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Hope each day brings you further relief for your back woes. Hartshead and sausage butty still sounds like a good plan.

Good Afternoon Guardians.

Many thanks Harvey, I have managed to sit at my desk this morning, but it isn't very comfortable o_O I'm glad you were able to get hold of one of those cool little knives :)

Thanks for the additional gaiter info, Jack. :) I have a couple of pairs of carpenter pants made of very heavy brown canvas-like cotton cloth, and they seem to shed rain much better than, say, denim jeans.
Thanks for "saluting" another of my lamb flock photos, and thanks for the pic(s) of your Unity lambsfoot!:thumbsup::cool:

I've been carrying my Man Jack all week:

Good to see you here Gary, and your Man Jack :) I have a few pairs of Carhartt's carpenter's pants

The close up pic and the angle it was taken make it appear as deep water.
It was probably 2 inches deep and I was standing ( or rather squatting) on dry ground besides the trail reaching out to the small branch ( which looks like a big log ) on the pic.
If it fell I would have dried it right away with a cloth and once home blow some canned air and oiled it.
The sun as it got lower made this wonderful reflection on the forest standing water.

Shhh...a magician never explains his stricks ;)

Gracias Vince :)
I keep thinking that there is no way there will be anything left or new to show on the same old trails we walk but nature keeps on surprising me.
I sometimes dream of being able to travel to some really spectacular parts of Canada toting my ebony lamb and taking pics :)

You live in a beautiful country Dan, and have a great eye for a photo :) I wish I could get out a bit more, there are only two places to go for a walk close to where I live, a small local park, and a small area of woodland, and both are very busy :(

I posted this picture of the Harrison relaxing on a Sunday afternoon in another thread by mistake. It deserves to be reposted here where it belongs.

Wonderful old knife Ed

Tip-top two-blade, Jack! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I really like these pics of your rosewood HHBs, ED & Jack! Such solid, stately knives :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Superb handle on that knife, Jack!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

THanks for all the kind words my friend, that's an excellent photo of your Man Jack

Dinner tonight...
Homemade wheat bread, Italian sausage, and fancy spaghetti.
Of course my Rosewood Lamb got the sausage cutting duties.:thumbsup:

That looks good John, I am missing the Italian sausage I used to be able to buy in the city centre. That fancy pasta is called farfalle isn't it, it was a favourite of my kids (and butterfly lovers everywhere)? :)

Thank you Jack.

Great and most interesting shot Jack. I hope you get some relief soon from your back issues my friend.

That is a beauty Ron. I love it!

Well, their not social distancing. :D
Thanks Harvey; a very funny shot

That's a great line up there.

This video just came up on my Facebook feed and my mind instantly connected it to our recent Guardians mugshots were a few beards were on display lol :D

Except of course for face masks to be effective you need to be clean shaven. :D

Hello, all!

Since we're mostly stuck in isolation, and as a way to keep all us Guardians healthy and fit, I produced this video (not really) of Guardians hitting the ol' heavy bag for exercise:
:D

Thank you, David! I really want to add an Ebony, my kryptonite!:thumbsup:

I'm sure one will come around. One day.
Great video. I don't know about everyone else but it looks a little to energetic for me though. :D

Good morning Guardians! :) I apologize if I double quote or click a quote on one of your posts and it doesn't appear. I am having a terrible time with the forum software this morning! :( I'm excited this morning! :D I got a new to me Lambsfoot in the mail yesterday evening. It's totally different to me. I don't have anything like it in my collection and I can't find another one like it to compare it to. I did find reference to the company, but I could only find it in reference to older knives. I believe my knife was possibly made in the late 70's or early 80's. I know Jack will be able to help out. Thanks in advance Jack Black Jack Black buddy! ;)

My knife is a Venture, H.M. Slater, Sheffield. It has some beautiful deeply grained horn handles. The bolsters are brass and the liners are steel. It is a big'un, which I really like! As a note, the blade looks very much like the blade on my big'uns from Wright's. The horn is hard to photograph but I got some photos to show you! :D

I’m almost positive it’s the same blade as a large Wright’s Lambsfoot Jeff! I’ve noticed nicks that large on some of their knives before! :)

Thanks Jack! I’m glad it sparked your interest! I’m looking forward to more of your comments my friend! ;) I have been reading some of the information in this thread about H.M Slater. I’ve also went back and looked at some of the older knives that have been posted. I was almost hesitant to mention Trevor Ablett. He was the one I immediately thought of when I got this knife in hand. It is a beautifully made knife. The brass bolsters and their shape are also very much like the ones Trevor used on his knives.

Ron, what a stunning lambsfoot you've landed there you lucky chap.
I've got to say the second I saw those bolsters they reminded me of the bolsters on my Trevor Ablett Barlow.

Oh no... I'm sorry for donn donn too. :(
Having three herniated discs in my back, I know it's no picnic when it flairs up.

Thanks John. Bad backs are no fun, and it was my own stupid fault for this flare up.

David, thanks for this interesting info on medical implications of the efforts to "defuse" the pandemic.:cool::cool:

Your welcome GT. Nice to see that fine Man Jack getting an airing.:)

What a great shot. The patterns on the blade remind me of one of those 3D pictures you can stare at for hours before a picture of something appears.

Morning Guardians, here we are again! Hope everyone has a safe and unchallenging week :) I'm going to try to stand up now! ;)

iNoghQJ.jpg

I'd rather have a challenging week. :D
Good luck standing up Jack. :D

Another week folks I hope everyone is well. It's been good to see everyone's fine shots of their Waynorth's as well.
It's just occurred to me I've no photo to post. I'll come back after my attempt to stand up.

Be very careful Jack. As you have indicated these back problems can be nagging. I hope you recover quickly. Groundhog Day is one of my favorites.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Jack! I realize the maker may remain anonymous to us. The knife does however speak for itself. I got lucky and was able to add it to my flock. It’s a keeper for sure. I’m going to make an effort to see if I can make out the reverse tang and report back. Thanks again buddy! :)

Continued thoughts and prayers for your back my friend! I’m fortunate myself to never have had a problem with my back, but I have experienced it first hand with Pam. :( I know it can make one absolutely miserable and sometimes relief can be little and far between. Take it easy and don’t try to go to quickly Jack! :)

Thanks David! :) I’ve never handled one of Trevor’s knives, but I’ve admired a lot of them in photos. The bolsters and the craftsmanship could certainly contribute to the fact that Trevor may indeed be the maker. Either way I’m very happy to have it in my flock! :)

Then you have to get up again!

 ;)

Thank you Bill, I think back problems are endemic throughout society, I know so many folks who suffer with them :( When I was younger, I could usually figure out what I had done to hurt my back, these days it can just 'go' at any time Unfortunately o_O

It looks well-made Ron, and I know you like the large size :) Thanks pal, that's very kind :) I'm sorry to hear Pam suffers too, I hope she's OK at the moment, when we all have enough on as it is

I'm doing just fine, thanks for asking. :)

I have managed to sit at my desk this morning
Baby steps... we will take all signs of improvement as happy news.

Lol... That was funny. :D:thumbsup:

Bad backs are no fun, and it was my own stupid fault for this flare up.
It usually is our fault, isn't it? ;) Hoping you have a quick recovery. :)
And it's usually stupid things, like picking up something small when we aren't paying attention.

I continue to carry my Hartshead to send Jack wishes of recovery from his ailing back.

That's good to hear John :) Thanks once again for all your kind words my friend :) Nice photo of your Hartshead Barlow

Thanks Jack! I do like the big’uns. Fortunately Pam’s problem was surgically remedied by a very fine surgeon at Vanderbilt. She’s been doing fine since 2009! That’s a great photo Jack. It’s very similar to what we’ve seen here where I live. There is a lot of homemade masks in evidence here! :)

Thanks Jack, no stood up fine thanks and I'm even sitting ok at the mo' and not felt the need to lie down, (which is unusual as I usually want to lie down whether I've a bad back or not).:D

Crumpets, pasties, bacon. The apocalypse could come tomorrow and I'd be happy with that as my final meal.:D

Thanks for the good wishes John. For this one it was a premature change to my summer quilt which let my back get to cold at night. It's happened before, it'll happen again.

I've enjoyed everyone's sourdough bread antics recently, so this is a cheat in comparison. My brothers banana bread made in a bread maker. I've just had a slice and it's absolutely delicious!

I see that you are wearing your mask. May be a fashion statement in the near future. My daughter, Cathleen, is a Fashion Designer for Khloé Kardashian's Company, The Good American. They have been making designer masks and donating some of the proceeds to the fight against Covid-19. Can't keep them in stock. Me, I used a cut up piece of pillow case.:D

Thanks Jack. Before her surgery she had days she could barely get out of bed. It’s been a life changer for her. The only pain she has to deal with now, and it’s not in her back, is ME! :D I’m afraid you’re exactly right about the masks Jack. I would never have dreamed it possible! :(
