Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I started cutting my own hair when the salons closed last Spring. It's not that difficult, except it looks a little choppy in back. (nobody sees the back of your head in Zoom meetings, so who cares?) They're open now, but I save $30 every time I do it myself. Hmm...I should trim my hair every day. I'll be rich!
Ha Ha!!:D

Thank you, Jack. Christmas is just around the corner, isn't it? Despite the rather troublesome year, my wife and I surprised ourselves by getting the bulk of our Christmas shopping finished rather early. I hope your hike was pleasant today - I'm sure that dandy of a Hartshead made for delightful company.

Today's beer was a step in the right direction - a wee bit darker.

That knife has a "just right" patina, Dylan!!;)
Nice going on the Christmas shopping!!
Isn't close enough for "last minute" for me!!

Nice work Dylan  I had a grand hike thank you my friend, and will hopefully be able to post some pics tomorrow. Unfortunately, I was trying to get over a broken stile, which really was in a state, and it see-sawed and jarred my back. So I am laid on the sofa, hoping it will not be any worse tomorrow o_O I am enjoying seeing your advent calendar beers, and that's a great pic there with your WCLF buddy :)
Oh No!! The Battle of the Back, again, Jack!!:( I hope you win soon!!
I hate it when that happens!!

Thanks Charlie, I've had 6 months of no problems, but then...o_O Hoping it'll be ok tomorrow, but I just never know :(

I feel your pain. I’ve always referenced my youth as the culprit, but it always seemed the most mundane movement that would trigger a knee buckling spasm. It sounds like you know the signs and are proactive enough to minimize the damage. Take care and feel better my friend.

Wonderful photos Dan :) With mid-winter approaching, (in the northern hemisphere), we all need the promise of better and brighter days :)

Isn't that the truth?! Thank you very much George, I'm sorry to hear you're a long-term sufferer yourself (we're not alone here unfortunately). I'm afraid it's still pretty painful this morning, not the worst I've had, but sitting at my computer is particularly painful, so I've just had to abandon that, and am back on my phone. When things finally get back to some semblance of normal, I'll be investing in a good osteopath or chiropractor! I've got to know my bad back better over the past 40-odd years, and usually, as you say, you just can't tell what simple little thing can lead to so much pain sometimes. Yesterday, was pretty spectacular in comparison, I wish I had photos! :D

Hope it improves by tomorrow. As you know, the sooner you can get mobile the better.

Thanks a lot Leon, yeah, mobility is definitely the key. Very different to the old advice of bed rest. I'll be trying to keep as active as possible, but unfortunately sitting at my computer really isn't a good thing, so that's going to disrupt my plans to hang out here today :(

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a good weekend. The pics of my hike yesterday might have to wait I'm afraid, but I'll get them up asap. Enjoy your Sunday Guardians

Sorry to hear about the back, Jack. Maybe you could get a stand-up desk.

I haven't done anything with this book myself. I bought it on the side when I was getting Listen to your Pain for my knees.

Thanks Jer, just one of those things I'm afraid. The way I hurt it yesterday was unusual. I was clambering over one of those old-fashioned stiles, but as the 'leg' beneath the board on the other side was missing, it swung down, and then sideways. It was well that I had my walking staff planted, as the movement was sudden and quite violent, and I'd have surely have ended up in the mud without it. As the plank moved sideways though, I was 'barn-doored' through 90 degrees. I managed to grab the fence and keep my balance, but the sudden and unusually energetic movement, while wearing a fairly heavy pack, clearly wrenched my back. I didn't notice it right away, but I could feel it after getting off the bus half an hour or so later. A stand-up desk would be pretty handy right now, though I don't know if I'd want one all the time. Being tall, I find a lot of things like bathroom/kitchen sinks and counter surfaces far too low for me. That book looks interesting, and I really should read more about these things I guess. I've seen various physiotherapists over the years, and the exercises which mainly seem to be based on yoga postures, have certainly helped, but it's hard to entirely protect yourself against the sort of accident I had yesterday. Sadly, I'm clearly too old for those kind of acrobatics! ;)

Jack, So sorry to hear that you wrenched the back and hoping that it's just a minor set-back. You are obviously trying to do the proper thing by hiking and staying healthy and low & behold you get rewarded with this sort of thing. My wife came home yesterday after about a half dozen shots to her lower back. Hopefully they work but so far it hasn't been a good thing.:( I had back surgery about 6 years ago...keeping my fingers crossed that I continue feeling well with my bum back. Hoping for the very best for you my friend.

Good morning Guardians and all. Beautiful sunny morning here in Southern Coastal North Carolina. Brisk outside but things are shaping up. I am going to carry a couple of knives today. One will definitely be my trusty HHB.

I am sorry to hear about your back acting up again and hope that it settles soon my friend

Dan, your photos are always so darn nice and I enjoy viewing them always:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Muchas gracias Bill :)
My wife and I took a memorable trip through the mountains of North Carolina about 23 years ago. We were living in Chattanooga TN and a Friday afternoon, after work we decided on the spur of the moment to go for a loooooong drive lol.
I remember driving by the Ocoee river , then we continued onto the mountains. As night approached we thought we better stop at a motel but then I said, "Nah, let's keep driving a bit more"
Drove for hours on those mountains, finally found a small town with a motel at 1 am .
How did we survived without GPS :D

Good morning Guardians :)
I don't know how I could have missed the most important wild flower in my post yesterday. I am referring to the Trillium flower, the official symbol of the beautiful province of Ontario where we live.

Many thanks for your kind words Bill :) Most of my long-standing aches and pains are from trying to lead a healthy lifestyle unfortunately  I'm very sorry to hear about your wife, and hope that the shots have helped considerably. Good luck to you too my friend  Great to hear you have a nice sunny day there :) I like that shot of your Hartshead Barlow with your shaving tackle

Blue Ice! Michael Caine and Sean Young. Sometimes a block of ice just falls out of an airliner's loo and kills you. No way to predict, prevent, or defend.
I think that was the premise.
I don't remember it very well because it was Michael Caine in the shower scene.
