Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

To all posting their thoughts on the loss of Ron - thank you for sharing your thoughts - too often people do not speak at these times.
Often I tell my loved ones and friends just how I think of them because once something happens it’s far too late, like now as it is too late to tell our friend of his immense value - it’s so important for family and friends to read and hear these thoughts.

We will miss him terribly won’t we!

Every time we meet someone good - like Ron was, we are always that much better off.
My thoughts go out to Rons Sweetheart Pam, their Family and friends and to Ron’s friends in his BF family here - especially to Harry!

Our bars and restaurants in Michigan are shut down till 1/15. Perhaps to give New Year's spume suckers time to manifest symptoms before bars and restaurants re-open. Makes sense to me.

Well expressed Duncan..

We will miss a keen Stalwart of the Lambfoot with Ron gone!!
And the Rendezvous won't quite be the same without @Half/Stop !!
:(
R.I.P. old friend!!
My condolences to his dear Pam!!

Yes Charlie, Ron made an enormous contribution to this thread, we are going to really miss him :(

Fitting tribute Jack, Ron was a large presence on this forum, one that will be dearly missed.

Thank you Paul, he was indeed :( That is a great photo of him with you and Duncan :)

Jack Black Jack Black Just heard on our news you are going into another strict lockdown, was light on rules, but mate does not look like being much of a Christmas over there. Was not much info on if it is only London, or all of England.

They announced the news last night Leon, and I'm sure a lot of folks here aren't aware of it yet. The south are getting the brunt of it so far, but the whole country is affected, and who knows, there could be more changes before Christmas yet o_O

Very nicely put, Jack. I'm just now discovering this terrible news and I'm devastated. This is such a rotten year and it's not letting up one bit.

Thank you, my friend.

I know Ron appreciated his AC and he had a gorgeous one. Though I'm just finding out about his passing, I've had my own AC with me today.

Here's to Ron.

Thank you Dylan, terrible news my friend :( I was thinking of carrying my own AC today in honour of Ron. That's a great shot of your own

I think the same will happen here too Jer, maybe it's already been announced (hard to keep up since things change from day to day here). We may need more than a Band-Aid unfortunately  That's a very good photo of your Big 'Un, covered a lot of road miles now :)

How did I not see the news about Ron earlier. This is terrible news. My thoughts are with his family and his close friends. He was a great guy and my interactions with him we're always top notch he will be missed here! May he rest in peace!

It is terrible news isn't it Taylor? :( I have just been reading back through some of Ron's old posts, hard to believe there won't be anymore :(

I went back and moderated my tone in that last post. It seemed a little shrill and sour to me in retrospect.

I hadn't noticed that Jer, but I did notice a typo in my own post, that 'WE' should have just read 'We' I'm still not happy with my new keyboard, I'm getting a lot more typos than previously o_O That's a nice photo my friend :)

I often fail to get my finger off the shift key in time to avoid double caps.

Yes, I think it's the same with me Jer, though it's definitely worse with the new keyboard, which has very slightly smaller keys  I'm trying to stay away from my desk as much as possible today, as sitting at it makes my back hurt more, so I'm just on my phone right now. Very seasonal :)

I had to get a new mouse last month, and I'm still adjusting to the change.:rolleyes:

It feels like a good day to carry stag.

I changed jobs 3 weeks ago, I now have to wear slacks to work so I started carrying a 3" whittler. Yesterday as I thought about Ron I changed it up and carried this one instead of the little whittler.

Your Thomas Turner is a fantastic knife Rob  It sounds like you need an AC for work, or maybe a belt pouch :) I hope your new job is going well

I guess most of the regulars here will have noticed that our fellow Guardian @Half/Stop , a real stalwart of this thread, hasn't posted in a couple of weeks. As you may have seen in the EDC thread, as reported there by our friend Harry @Old Engineer , Ron has very sadly passed away :( I knew Ron throughout his time on The Porch, and while we never met, or even spoke on the phone, we exchanged many PMs and emails, and I regarded him as a very good friend. My deepest and sincere condolences to his wife Pam, their family, and all Ron's friends here, he will be very greatly missed :(

Ron first posted in this thread on July 27th 2016. He remained a regular, throughout thick and thin here, posting about his adventures, his thoughts on life, and his love for his wife and best friend Pam. He also shared his wonderful Lambsfoot collection of course, and while it contained some real beauties, I think it is this 'Big 'Un' (a phrase Ron may have even coined) in Pere David stag that I associate with him most in my mind. It was a 'second' from the Wright factory, with a filled-in crack at the butt, but Ron carried it a lot, and it had a great patina :)

The last knife I sent to Ron was the last Lambsfoot he posted here earlier in the month, his 'Big Eb'. Carrying my own today seems appropriate.

R.I.P. Ron, proud to have had you as a friend

Very touching tribute to Ron, Jack.

Such awful (and, to me, sudden) news. My sincere sympathies are with Ron's wife Pam, with his daughter, and with his friends as they cope with this tragic loss. And my prayers are that their grief can be tempered with memories of happy times spent with Ron.

Although Ron and I joined BF at almost the same time (I think I joined 5 days before he did), for a long time I had the mistaken impression that he was a seasoned veteran of The Porch long before I showed up. I think my misperception was caused by the fact that in the 40-45 years prior to joining BF, Ron had been accumulating quality knives and immense knife knowledge while I had been living without a knife in my pocket. Compared to my ignorance of all things pocket knifely, Ron's knowledge (and collection) seemed almost infinite! But Ron was very kind and generous with his knowledge, time, and encouragement. I'll certainly miss his positive attitude, his friendly demeanor, and his consistent participation here in the Guardians Thread as well as throughout the entire Traditional subforum.

Thanks Jack. I consider this Turner my finest Lambsfoot, love the blade stamps. The new job is going well, I'm enjoying it and happy to be employed in these trying times.
I'm off to work again soon, I think I'll carry the Radiant at the bottom of this picture, it's similar in size to the AC at 3 3/8".
