Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'm very sorry to hear about Ron's passing. I had the great pleasure to meet him along with a few other forum members at a Wisconsin knife show two years ago. As others have mentioned, Ron was a really nice guy with a smile as big as he was. He will be missed by many.

Enjoying a drink tonight with my 2019 Ironwood Guardians Lambsfoot. This was day 20 of a little DIY whisk(e)y advent calendar I’ve been doing over in the Beverages thread.

I have a nice little group of Lambsfoot knives (most of them, in some way or other, thanks to Jack Black Jack Black ), but I think this might be my favorite one. It’s certainly the best looking (in my opinion, of course).

The desert ironwood is beautiful.

I was doing the exact same thing last night Jack!

I wish I could also re-read all Ron's PMs Taylor. It was a great loss when the option to download them, following the last big BF software change, was no longer available :(

That IS some nice stag..

Thanks Leon, I was very pleased with the stag for that SFO run :) I think Ron had the nicest of all, he always seemed to be lucky with stag :)

Just a thought, would it be appropriate as a way to pay our respects to Ron and show appreciation for his message to include his signature line in our own for a few days along with a couple words stating why we are doing it ?

Nice idea Dan

You've captured that Ironwood really nicely Barrett :) Like yourself, Ron was always very supportive in terms of my SFO projects, and appreciated the practical difficulties involved, and the importance of maintaining the integrity of the project against design fraud

I'm going to carry some Ironwood myself today. I think I've only carried this knife once before. It was Ron's choice from the 4 options available with Damascus blades, and there were only 5 made like it. After Ron made his choice, I decided to shell out for one myself :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. I am still struggling because of the trapped nerve in my lower back, which is making doing things difficult, not least sitting at my desk o_O Stay safe this week Guardians

I don’t know if this will be of much help, but I’ve started saving all my old PMs as webarchive files before deleting them. (I didn’t realize until reading the Wikipedia article that I linked there that this was something exclusive to the Safari browser.) It saves a webpage exactly as it currently exists for offline viewing in the future. It works great for saving PMs, and I’ve been using it since the BF software switch.

Thanks for the info Barrett :)

Very attractive Dan

Folks, I'm back. With my move and hunting season (a straight-edge doesn't really work) and a few other things, I haven't carried my RALF for about 3½ months. But now that I'm through all that, and well, maybe Ron's passing jarred something in me . . . lambie's back in the saddle again (at least the pocket!). Here's the first photo of RALF in the new digs, complete with a shell from Sanibel.

Jack, firstly, I hope your back is getting better. An aching back makes it hard to have a good day...Believe me, I know. I am very fortunate to have had a great surgeon fix mine but I will be forever mindful that it could go bad on me at any time. You choice in knives today is spectacular and you photo captures it very well indeed. You've inspired me to select mine for today.

Thank you for your kind words Bill, as well as the compliment :) I hope that your back remains trouble-free  I like your mug  That's some nice Ironwood :)

I guess most of the regulars here will have noticed that our fellow Guardian @Half/Stop , a real stalwart of this thread, hasn't posted in a couple of weeks. As you may have seen in the EDC thread, as reported there by our friend Harry @Old Engineer , Ron has very sadly passed away :( I knew Ron throughout his time on The Porch, and while we never met, or even spoke on the phone, we exchanged many PMs and emails, and I regarded him as a very good friend. My deepest and sincere condolences to his wife Pam, their family, and all Ron's friends here, he will be very greatly missed :(

Ron first posted in this thread on July 27th 2016. He remained a regular, throughout thick and thin here, posting about his adventures, his thoughts on life, and his love for his wife and best friend Pam. He also shared his wonderful Lambsfoot collection of course, and while it contained some real beauties, I think it is this 'Big 'Un' (a phrase Ron may have even coined) in Pere David stag that I associate with him most in my mind. It was a 'second' from the Wright factory, with a filled-in crack at the butt, but Ron carried it a lot, and it had a great patina :)

The last knife I sent to Ron was the last Lambsfoot he posted here earlier in the month, his 'Big Eb'. Carrying my own today seems appropriate.

R.I.P. Ron, proud to have had you as a friend

Well I'm genuinely sorry to hear this very sad news. I always enjoyed Ron's posts; he'll be sorely missed. :(
Thanks for the passing the news on Jack.

A recycled pic for today.

Harry @Old Engineer has been running Point on this one David, and doing a good job, despite the terrible circumstances :( Hope you're keeping well yourself
