Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Prester John Prester John , you will be asleep when i post this mate, but today is your official day, Happy Birthday Vince and many happy returns. If i was over there i would throw this on the table, with a nice red and some oven roasted pumpkin and some steamed peas and beans, have a good one mate.🤝.

Served with some Texan BBQ sauce and hand cut baked potato chips. We might even finish with some of the nice Bourbon Whiskey you would have stashed.:thumbsup:.

I don't know whether or not the bone has some sort of coating, but perhaps a lightly sanded surface gives the solution more to grab onto. I've noticed that a textured steel will get rust spots faster than highly polished.
I guess it would increase the surface area. Cutlers talk about polishing 'sealing' the steel
Thanks Rachell, much appreciated. The bone question is a curly one, the amount of bubbles indicating activity attached to the covers is no difference between sanded and non sanded, but any input you have is appreciated, i always respect your opinion being a craftsman/knife person. I will just leave it for a week, then start again if there is no difference and see what happens then. Have a good day and thanks again.:)
How about sanding one side? As you say, we're all just guessing my friend
@btb01 Thanks Barrett ! I appreciate the compliment ! In my opinion the oldest of the 4 is this one with a flush and clean joint. Looking at the joint it appears to be loose and wobbly but it's very tight with no play in any direction, It's a joy to carry and use, has a on the heavy side just right pull for me.

Nice photos Rob, Sheffield cutlers once took great pride in their clean and square joints :) That Lambsfoot really is a vintage beauty
Unfortunately a lambsfoot knife is a want I have yet to fulfill. Maybe one day though.
I'm extremely sorry Jon, with the slight assistance of the auto-suggest feature, I managed to confuse you with TheJon TheJon , who recently had an unfortunate incident with his Lambsfoot (see below):( Please excuse my mistake, I'll correct my previous post

Hope you've been having a great day Leon :)

Good morning Guardians, halfway through the week already! Nice to see so many good wishes for our two birthday boys cudgee cudgee and Prester John Prester John :) I've got some work to do myself today, but hoping I can find time to do some more work on the walking staff I started the other day. Thought I'd slip my WCLF in my pocket. Have a good day everyone

I picked up this Record Junior wood vice the other month, and thought I'd ask my neighbour if he had a small piece of scrap wood, so that I could make some dogs for it. He answered the door in his dressing gown, coughing and spluttering, and told me he's been ill for the past few days. I have another neighbour, 3 doors down, who is has a similar condition, but he's still going to work. Going to be a hard winter here

I usually use a gimlet, and a pocket knife awl to make the lanyard holes on my walking sticks, but the seasoned ash I'm working on is so hard, I'm going to get out a hand-drill. My grandfather's brother worked for Stanley, who made this one
