That's beautiful.I nearly put my back out carrying this 12lb block back from the market last week!An interesting find I think, but I have limited practical use for it. It holds my kitchen door open pretty well though

Quality post... Thanks for the added information, Jack. Here's some photos I took, 8 years ago now, at Sheffield's Kelham Island Museum. The dies in the second, third, and fourth photos were taken from James Dixon's die sinking works, which was situated not far from where the museum is today.

There's always someone who knows more!
Thanks JerMy father was a fan of the Claudius books, which is where I think I first came across Graves, but he played a big part in my Classical Studies lessons later. I discovered his poetry quite separately

Very good Jer, I have the BBC dramatisation on DVD, and think it still holds upI first heard of Graves through Alistair Cooke's hosting of Derek Jacoby's I Claudius on Masterpiece Theater.

I discovered his poetry through The White Goddess, an early paperback copy of which Dad had in his den. It still had the subtitle, "An Historic Grammar of Poetic Myth". Something like that. I'm sure I stiill hacve it, but where? And a scary, abstract Death's head on the cover.
Ace pic Kevin!
My last school lunch before I ride off into the sunset. “Orange chicken bites with Not So Fried Rice”. At least the pear was tasty.
