Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Here's some photos I took, 8 years ago now, at Sheffield's Kelham Island Museum. The dies in the second, third, and fourth photos were taken from James Dixon's die sinking works, which was situated not far from where the museum is today.

Quality post... Thanks for the added information, Jack. 🤠

Thanks Jer :) My father was a fan of the Claudius books, which is where I think I first came across Graves, but he played a big part in my Classical Studies lessons later. I discovered his poetry quite separately

I first heard of Graves through Alistair Cooke's hosting of Derek Jacoby's I Claudius on Masterpiece Theater.

I discovered his poetry through The White Goddess, an early paperback copy of which Dad had in his den. It still had the subtitle, "An Historical Grammar of Poetic Myth". Something like that. I'm sure I stiill have it, but where? And a scary, abstract Death's head on the cover.

Thank you John, I thought that video was pretty interesting :) I remember Paul Mason saying he had renewed the moulds or dies for the 'Spirit of Ecstasy' twice, and while it was a well-paid job, he really didn't want to do it again!

Very good Jer, I have the BBC dramatisation on DVD, and think it still holds up :) When it was first broadcast in the 70's, me and my school mates thought it clever to refer to it as 'I Clavdivs' ;) The White Goddess is what I was looking for this morning, I came across it (as a library book) in 1980 or '81 :) Mine is a paperback copy, but I can't recall what it has on the cover, though I seem to recall it's blue and white in colour 🤔

I've just been cooking with some very colourful peppers and tomatoes, and meant to take a couple of pics, but forgot! They were to go with the pasta dish I'm serving tomorrow though (Sopranoes night! :D). Tonight, I'm on my own, and had pie! :)

I'll be down at the market tomorrow morning, and I'm looking forward to it. The weather forecast doesn't look great, but the temperatures are relatively mild. I've seen a forecast for snow and temperatures of -11f for next week! Hopefully, I'll get a slice of cake or two, or a nice vanilla slice, like I had last week ;) Think I'm going to carry my Rosewood Big 'Un, posed here last week, with a couple of very nice clamps
